Auto RX. Can I add now?

I recently changed my oil and I'm not due for my next oil change for another 2000 miles. Is it okay to add Auto RX to my existing oil for a basic cleaning application or should I just wait until my next oil change? The oil used was Valvoline 5w20 but I'm not sure of the full name. Is this the proper type oil to add the RX to? I currently have 67k on my 04 Acura TL. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Yeah, I would say you are good to add it as soon as possible.

save your money and dont add it...just my opinion...i bet they dont reccomend in it in your owners manual...and i also bet there are alot of hi mileage honda engines that have never used it or needed it

This is good advice for nearly every oil additive. I respectfully disagree when it comes to Auto RX or Lubecontrol LC-20.

Both these products have worked as promised , or better, in every engine I've used them in.

A full clean and rinse with Auto Rx can work wonders, and the maintenance dose program afterwards is a great program. I use this for family cars that I see occasionally.

I also like the full clean and rinse with Auto Rx, and afterwards.... LC-20 10z / quart of oil at every oil change with additional LC-20 dosed at 1 oz /1000 mile afterwards. This works great for the cars that are home frequently.

So you know for a fact they wouldn't have been in even better condition and running even more efficient had they used Auto-RX?

That's what I did on my 2000 Tundra. But I also knew I was going to do another clean/rinse cycle after that because of high mileage. I started from scratch on my 2003 G35 (70K) and 2004 S2000 (38K), because I knew they would only get one treatment and I wanted to get the maximum benefit. To be honest, I was never a big oil additive fan either. I'm very conservative about that, but I couldn't resist trying ARX. So far, I'm very impressed and will continue to use it.

You will be fine adding it now, but extend this OCI by 500 miles. Remember, the cleaning phase is 2500 miles and the rinse is 3000 miles.

Yes, because the owner's manual is the bible when it comes to car care. If it's in there or not in there, you can expect the info to be the best for your car!

Yes, and the owners manual will pay when something is broken, like sludge or emission problem.

ARX won't solve a problem you don't have but it's not going to do anyone any good just sitting in the bottle. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I say add it right now, leave the filter be (the real loading comes during the rinse), and run it for 2,250. The extra 250 won't make too much difference either way.

This product can only help an engine. Worst case is that your engine is not that dirty and it does (and needs to do) nothing. If so, good for you. If not, good for you.

For those worshiping the owner's manuals, remember that the warranty recommendation is only designed to get you (and them) through the warranty period without claims.
