I am thinking of buying an older '70s model car, and restoring it over time. The problem here in Texas (not sure about other states) is that you have to have proof of insurance to transfer the title of a car into your name. I dont want to insure it just to get the clear title, and then turn around and drop the insurance. Are there any legal tricks or procedures to get around this?
I had thought about insuring it with "Grundage" (sp) or one of the other collector car insurance companies that specialize in collector or antique cars. But i would rather not have to insure it until I am ready to put it on the street.
Thanks
