Off our plow truck at work. 2013 Silverado quad cab 4x4 with 6.0 v-8 engine. Put this and some Valvoline Maxlife 5w30 in earlier this year. Has roughly 5,500~ give or take. Put Parts Plus PH 48 and some Maxlife 5w30 in and on. Truck has only 19,455 miles on it as we take plow and spreader off in spring and take it to scrap yard and haul some stuff in it. I believe it's something to help or does something with adbv

I believe it's an oil pressure bypass valve. Saw the same on my WIX 51348:

In fact, the filter looks an awful lot like a WIX filter to me.

Yep same as wix. I will assume the media is different, but construction is identical.

I don't think that is a bypass valve as there is one on the dome end also. Seems like a filler piece of metal and I was wondering its purpose also. Maybe it is taking up room that media could be or maybe it is a adapter of some sort for an engineering change along the way.

For standardization of construction of media element size (I'd assume), it's a spacer used in the dome bypass filters. Same size as the Wix traditional thread end bypass shown above, if it was to be used. The vast majority of Wix/Napa Gold filters do use a thread end bypass. The made fors like the topic filter or the Napa Silver and Proselect Super Tech use more dome bypass when not using a combo valve. This one (topic filter) with separate dome bypass preferable to a combo valve imo.

This is nothing new though. If one does a search here of Wix and Wix 'made fors' that use dome bypass, the spacer will be found in the dissection.

For what it is, a jobber tier filter made for AE, looks like it did it's job imo.
