Hi - I maintain my wife’s 2017 Audi Q3 with 95k miles. This has the 2.0 TFSI motor. It has been fed Castrol 0W-40 at 5,000 mile OCIs since new. It does not consume any measurable amount between oil changes and hope it stays that way..

Castrol 0W-40 is getting hard to find. I’m thinking about switching to Castrol Euro 5W-30 or 5W-40. Which one would be better? Or will my car not notice the difference? Or would this be a mistake?

Thanks!

Use VW504.00/507.00 oils in that engine.
Mobil1 ESP 5W30 (Amazon $158 for 12qt)
Mobil1 ESP 0W30 (AAP $37 for 5qt).
Pennzoil Platinum Euro 0W30 LX (Amazon $48 for 6qt).
Valvoline European Vehicle 5W30 XLIII 5W30 (Amazon $118 for 3X5qt).

Do you think the above oils would perform better than Castrol 0W-40 over time? Thanks..

What is better? Low SAPS oils will reduce (NOT prevent) IVD. Only reason why VW used in the US VW502.00 oils like Castrol 0W40 was high sulphur gas. Since 01/2017 the US switched gradually to ULSG like EU. By now, it is hard to find high sulfur gas.
I use in EA888 Mobil1 ESP 0W30 and change every 5k. UOA is excellent and oil has a lot of life left after 5k.
Wear wise, there won’t be differences. If it is going to make you sleep any better, use VW511.00 which is XW40 version of VW504.00/507.00. Motul X-Clean 5W40 GEN2 is one of them so is Mobil1 ESP 0W40 X3.
