Hello,
I have imported an Audi 2.0 16v FSI engine to here in the United States. This engine particular engine code is AXW and has an all alloy engine block. I have no idea (would like to know!) if these are Nikasil or Alusil based. There is crosshatching present in the bores which if IIRC correctly means it is Nikasil, could be wrong.
I purchased a service manual for this and the factory is calling for:
- Multigrade engine oil viscosity 5w30 to 15w40, to specification ACEA A2 or A3 (VW 502.00).
- VW 504.00 LongLife oil, or better.
This engine will get put to use in a weekend drag car and I would like to use a serious performance oil if possible; Torco, Redline, etc, etc. I have already spoken with Torco a while back; they did not have an answer about the non-sleeved cylinder bores, and their best recommendation was their SR-5 (on my list anyway). To add to this, I know the FSI engine oil gets washed with more gas then usual due to the direct injection but this project of mine ill be running traditional EFI so this is not a concern.
I posted here first before the Racing Oil forum to get feedback from daily users first and to hear from people who might be more familiar with the actual engine.
Does anyone here have any experience with this engine, concerns to be aware of, and then of course… oil recommendations?
Thanks,
