Do any of you have experience with these "small footprint" inline magnetic filters? They include a small magnet and a screen with a bigger micron rating than most in-pan filters. Do you think they would have any usefulness, especially in a trans with a drain plug?

I'm considering the JX-151 universal model for a 2010 Pontiac Vibe. I know a Magnefine would be better, because it has a strong magnet and a real filter for non-ferrous materials. However, space is tight in this car, and the small ATP would be a lot easier to install without routing lines around to the front of the radiator or making big hose loops between the fan and engine.

Compared to the innards of a Magnefine, this one is unimpressive. The magnet is 1/2" diameter with a 1/4" hole in the center.
What do you think about the ATP? A good way to filter out $19, or an effective way to remove some ferrous wear material?
