Have you ever looked at the odd ball heads on the fastners for Bathroom stalls in public rest rooms? That is what you do when you do not want people dinking with the fastners. You can buy that bit for your collection from Granger but the averqage punk teenager is not going to spend the money for a bit just to mess with the stalls in the restroom.
If GM had designed that it would not have drain plug you would have to drop the pan to get any oil out and make a huge mess in the process or you would need a special tool that the average person does not own. Most automotive tool sets come with 5.5-32MM socket and wrench and SAE 3/32-1 inch socket and wrench usualy a combination of deep,thin wall and standard and a combination of 6 point and up. You usualy get some allen keys and torq bits as well. Spend the money on good tools and you will have them for ever and will be able to pass some on to your children! The money you save working on your vechile or the girlfriends vechile should be set aside for more tools!!!LOL If you pockets are not deep buy as many as you can from Sear's online and pick-up in store. They tend to have more sales online then in store but you can pick-up in store to save on shipping. Flea Markets and Yard sales are great place to pick-up Craftsman tools as well cheap! While I do not like most other brand of tools besides Matco.SnapOn and Craftsman from time to time Low's has some killer deals on their Cobalt line which while a bit clunky seem to be ok. The first time you save your girlfriend $500-$1500 dollars on a repair she will not have any problem paying for the tools!! It is funny because all of my Toyota's ahve always been easuily repaired with my first Craftsman Mechanic's prtable 200 piece kit. My wifes American car's that she has owned over the year's have all required all kinds of specialty tools. So I have all kinds of tools that I would have never owned if not for the wife. I sold all my tools for the most part when I went off to college. The good thing is that since Ihave realitives that own almost all American vechiles those tools have seen plenty of use!
I only own Craftsman tools. Wrenches, drills, saws, etc.
Your "toolsets" with a 24mm socket/wrench are not standard for normal people to own. They are for those, like you and apparently not myself, who actually want to own them.
