ATF Check Question

I am using Amsoil ATF in most of my cars. On the stick it gives me parameters for "cold" and "hot" fluid. "Cold" being lower and less than "hot" on the stick. Here is the problem. I can drive for 50 miles and the fluid is still "cold" as compared to my Parent's Buick which is filled with something different in the AT.

What marks do I use? I guess I could wait for a 100 mile trip up the mountain and hope it would be hot then.....

I have filled it to the "hot" mark as I'm guessing after driving 50 miles it should be hot. IT sure feels cold to my fingers, though....

"hot" won't be hot like oil after 50 miles. More like hot shower water. At 50 miles, it will be expanded as much as intended. Use the hot lines.

It's better to check the fluid when 'hot'..regardless of how long you have to run her, as the trans is 'hot' far longer than 'cold', hence the need for proper lubrication at that point.

Yes, use the hot mark. ATF doesn't get all that hot in my cars either and I used to use Amsoil in everything. It's great but I needed to save money so I go factory DW-1 every 30k now in the Honda's.
