I know there have been a ton of discussions about oil weight in Ford's 5.0 "coyote" and I'm trying to avoid a repeat. I'm just looking for any information people might have about the spec'd oil weight in over seas applications- if Ford even is exporting this engine currently?

Ford have just released a 5.0 L V8 Mustang GT in Australia.

Castrol Australia say to use a 5w30 that is spec'd API SN/CF, ACEA A5/B5, A1/B1; ILSAC GF-4 Ford WSS-M2C913-C/WSS-M2C913-D.

They say the sump capacity is 7.6 L, does that sound right?

Hi Mate, just found this from Ford.

https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia...s_Australia.pdf

The Mustang with the Turbo I4 eccobost engine, they say use 5w30.
For the 5.0 L V8, they say to use 5W-20.

The web site appears to be Ford America not Ford Australia, but the spec is for the Australia model.

Castrol Australia say run 5w30 in the V8, and they are usually pretty good in their recommendations, and how they work with the local manufacturers & importers.

It would be interesting to hear what a local Ford dealers says. The issue may be what Ford Spec 5W-20 is required. Does anybody know the actual spec (WSS -) for the 5.0 L V8 ?

Penrite say to use a mid-SAPS full synthetic 5W-20
Spec: API SN, ACEA C2, Chrysler MS-6395, Ford M2C925-A/ M2C930-A/ M2C945-A/ M2C948-A/B

I would say the 5L V8 is spec'd 5W-20 in Australia

Coyote 5.0 engines are fitted to Australian Ford and FPV vehicles. The spec for all variants has always been WSS M2C 930A which aligns with SM/GF-4 5w20, which is now a rather old spec. As Australian manufacturing is ending, Ford has started importing Mustangs and a raft of other European Fords which will all likely have updated specifications.
