ARX Update

It is hard not to share good news about ARX. It is still a bit premature, but I could not hold back.

I put ARX in my '95 Mitsu Montero 3.0L V6 (150,000 miles) because it burned about 1qt every 1500 miles. Besides the oil burning problem the car ran great.

During the 1500 mile clean phase the truck had used 1/2qt. Now that I am 1300 miles into the rinse phase the oil on the dipstick is still at the full mark. My mpg has been getting better with the ARX. Last fill up I recorded 19 mpg while pulling a 2500lb tent trailer

. Although I was held to 60mph due to my friends car troubles.

This truck ran on synthetic for the first 100,000 miles then dino since then. The strange thing is that the oil does not look very dirty. I am 1300 miles into the rinse phase and the oil still looks pretty clean.

Overall, the truck does seem to have more power(although that could be imaginary), but the mileage figures are definately better so that is an indication of better efficiency/power. It seems like it has also helped with the oil consumption, but I will have to monitor it more long term to be sure.

Although the truck has more than 100,000 miles I am only doing one treatment because I think the engine is pretty clean.

Good insite.Some people get all carried away cutting open the filter looking for sludge. Did you change anything else that may effect the oil useage.Like the PCV valve and a good cleaning of the fuel system with something like 3M cleaner. If all your gaskets, air cleaner and sensors are OK it ought to be ready for a good blend or High Mileage oil.

Winston your benefits of using Auto-Rx are just beginning do the correct application for engines over 100,000 miles and post again.

Our applications come from testing by Dyson Oil Analysis-Lubrizoil- and other professionals. Auto-Rx chemistry is not a one size fits all, rether like chemistry it works on ratio.s versus usage.You have used up first bottle of Auto-Rx.

put that high mileage PU engine on a diet of HDEO, a good diesel rated 5W40 or 10W40 for the extra cleaning for any piston/ring blowby. will stand up better to hvy duty apps like towing.
run a steady diet of LP in the oil and FP in the fuel to keep that ring pack clean.

Well, I got all carried away too. I cut up the first filter and saw just a few specs of sludge. I will be cutting up this filter too.

I have a good 30-40 min commute, plus I towed my trailer a couple times. I think that helped ensure a good cleaning. I wonder how well it would work for a short trip car? I wonder if it is necessary for the oil to be at temperature for ARX to work.

BTW, I changed the PCV around 20k ago. I check it periodically, I also clean the throttle body periodically, so in that aspect everything is in good shape.

As far as what oil to use in the future, I am really torn. I am using Chevron Supreme for this treatmen, but since this truck has been so good to me I would like to go back to a full synthetic when I am done. However, Frank's site recommends dino for the best result with the seals. I do not see a need for an HDEO oil since this engine truly runs like it was brand new. Plus the oil does not darken very much.

I'm on an ARX clean cycle on my 96 Atima (167k). It was previously on syn for the last 80k.

You say that maybe you should use dino after the arx treatment for the seals...I say why? Was it leaking before or is it a prevenitive thing? I'm trying to figure out if I should go back to Mobil 1 after the 2 full Arx cycles that I'm doing on this car. It doesn't burn any oil (none that I can tell) and it doesn't leak.....anybody got anything to add?

Need? heck how about the value...1 gallon of some of the best oil you can get for $5.99 how about that for need?!
