Arx maintenence dose(3oz.) and effect on UOA

Can running the 3 oz. maintenence dose of Arx affect the true readings of a used oil analysis?(oil capacity of my Ford 4.6L sohc is 5 qts)

I'm currently at the end of my Arx rinse, and getting ready to go from conventional to synthetic.oil(in this case GC, probably would run it for 3k miles), and want to be sure that my motor/seals stay clean.

if it could affet a used oil analysis, which values are most likely to be affected?

Thanks for any ideas.

Tbird, I thought someone would have answered this and I really don't have an answer.

One of the early members on this board, Dragboat, had made some comments that some values on used oil analysis were giveaways that AR-X was in the oil. I don't remember that he stated what they were, but Frank or Terry might help you via PM.

I would think the same would apply when using LC at the recommended doses. Any comments from the pros?

I'm no expert.

However, it seems to me that the ARx 3oz dose should not cause a problem with your analysis results.

The full value of oil analysis is not realized until you have multiple results to establish a trend. As long as all your analysis include your 3oz ARx dose. They will all be comparable.

I asked this question back when I did my used oil analysis and ARX at the same time. The answer was that ARX will not affect the UAO.

I did three used oil analysis on oil with an ARX treatment and there was no affect.

I guess the consensus is that there is no effect. I would think the reasons are as follows:

I don't have the Auto-Rx MSDS in front of me but I don't recall any listing of inorganic constituents that would skew the elemental analysis.

The physical properties are probably unlikely to be skewed because of the small amount added in a maintenance dose (3 oz. in 5 qts).

I thought the general consensus was that it reduces the wear numbers on a used oil analysis. A cleaner engine will have less wear.
