ARX looks like sludge in a bottle?

So I just poured a bottle of ARX into my BMW for the cleaning phase, along with some fresh QS 5w30 oil.

The thing is, that the ARX came out of the bottle looking like sludge or goo... kind of like ketchup. I had to squeeze the bottle to get it out. Is this bad? Whats this going to do to my car? Has anyone ever seen ARX looking like this? [censored]?

It will liquefy and mix in with the oil when you run the engine.

I think it tends to congeal with a combination of time and low temperatures, but it will still mix with the oil with no problems.

If any got left in the bottle, mix some oil with it and shake and/or heat it to get all the ARx out of the bottle.

It will come out very thick and molasses like. What you should do is fill up a small vessel of hot tap water and put the bottle in there for about 5-10 minutes. It will come out a lot better that way.

oh, [censored], thanks guys. i was worried i just poured some death slime into my engine. i'll find a way to get the last little bit out of the bottle. i'm leaving it in a room near a heater... the bottles were stored in my garage, so i figure it was cold in there over the past few months.

as long is this is normal, and i didn't get a "bad bottle" or something...

Just wanted to chime in and give some reassurance...
I experienced the same thing. It's not a bad bottle. Looks similar to an activated charcoal poultice-paste.
I used the room heater method, and also pured some oil into the Auto-Rx bottle to get all the remaining "goodies" out. Both techniques worked great.

ya, im gonna leave it by the heater until tomorrow, then pour some oil in the bottle, shake it up, and pour it in my motor

The room heater did the job in about 15 minutes. I also "poured" oil into the Auto-Rx bottle... There was no cat involved.

I just starting doing a treatment in both cars and yea same thing. What i did was soaked the bottle in hot tap water while i drained the oil.

I've never noticed it being thick, just very dark.

I noticed it coming out like molasses last time I changed my oil. It always worries me, even though Frank said it would be fine after 300 miles...

it is kinda think. i set it in a bottle of hot water for bout 10 minutes then shook it preety good for a couple minutes before letting it go down the hole

If it does what it is said to do, and many here attest that it does, then it's the anti-sludge. It looks just like sludge but it annihilates sludge.

But I want to know if there are any other uses for it, maybe like shoe polish?

Sit that black bottle out in the sun for 5 minutes and there you have it. Comes out like water.

From the Auto Rx web site's FAQ section...

"Q: Using Auto-Rx in Frigid Cold Conditions
A: Auto-Rx is a highly concentrated combination of ester based cleaning components. In its concentrated form Auto-Rx is not flowable from its container below 32 degrees F. However, once dispersed into your host motor oil, it has little to no effect on the pour point of the host oil. In cold weather conditions, follow these instructions: dispense hot tap water into a bowl or container that will have adequate capacity to submerse the Auto-Rx container up to the bottle neck. Insert the bottle so that the neck is above the high water mark. Allow the bottle to stand in the warm water for 2 minutes. If the bottle of Auto-Rx has been subject to below freezing temperatures, you should repeat this process twice - refilling the hot water container and re-submersing the Auto-Rx. In the meantime, warm the motor to operating temperature. With a warm motor and Auto-Rx warmed to at least room temperature, you are ready to proceed with your Auto-Rx application."

oh well, i poured it in thick and chunky... i'm sure it will mix in properly and work as it is meant to

It will work fine, you just might not have gotten 100% of it out of the bottle.
