I'm currently doing an ARX treatment on my 2000 Tundra with 142K miles. I'm on the first rinse phase in the engine, and put 6 ozs of ARX in the transmission and 2 ozs on the PS about 600 miles ago. I plan to flush the transmission and PS fluid after the recommended 1000 miles of cleaning. The ARX website states that there is no need to use maintenance doses after cleaning the transmission and PS system. Why is this? It seems to me that it would be a good idea. Also, why are we using only 6 ozs in the transmission and 12 ozs in the engine? In my truck, the transmission holds twice as much oil as the engine. Why are we not using twice as much ARX in the transmission as the engine? Thanks.

Transmission Fluid is base hydraulic oil and very light viscosity.
6 ounces is more than adequate for any transmission unit.Unless you used one of the mny transmission additives that effect your seals if so run Auto-Rx for 1200 miles
No need to rinse a sealed unit. eg Transmission-PS

Thanks Frank. Even though I have used Slick50 ATF additive in the past, I can't ever remember using it on this unit. I'll do a complete machine flush after 1000 miles then. ARX has done a nice job of smoothing out the 2-3 shift on my truck, which is exactly what I was hoping for. The valves must have been getting dirty over the years.
Add a Magnefine filter and consider synthetic ATF.
I already switched to a synthetic (Schaeffers 204) which performed a miracle for about 12K miles. Then I noticed a couple of funky 2-3 shifts again. The ARX treatment seems to have taken care of that now.

I think its worth pointing out that a transmission is no bombarded with blowby gases and the ingestion of airborne dirt and moisture, like a motor is. Hense the deposits in a transmission are likely not nearly as complex, nor hard to clean as what is found in a motor.
I thought my transmission was shifting just great.
I added the AutoRX to my Mobil 1 ATF, with a magnefine filter in the cooler line, and I DID notice an improvement in the shifting......with the old fluid with ARX still in there.
I am NOT big on adding anything to transmission fluid, but I do feel that the AutoRX was a good thing to add....as I had seen it clean varnish deposits that I could see through the oil fill cap (my engine was super clean to start with).
I plan to do this before each transmission fluid change from now on.
I am hoping that it will be particularly helpful in cleaning the fluid areas of the solenoids in my FORD AX4S transmission......which is not known for long term reliability.
FORD remanufactured transmission has about 100K miles on it.....vehicle (and motor) has 195K miles on it......'96 3.8L FORD Windstar.
While these deposits are not as hard to clean as deposits in the motor....I think that it is important to clean them.
Add to that.....It does not get any easier than to add a half bottle of ARX (6 ounces), and drive......about 1000 miles before changing the fluid.
I am NOT a mechanic or a expert on these things......so take this for what it is worth....

I did Auto-Rx in my transmission and can say that I was amazed, every time I had changed my fluid it had always come out bright red, when I did Auto-Rx for 1000 miles and went to drian the fluid it came out a dark burgundy color and the bottom of my trans pan was covered in grey slime, even after flushing out all of the old fluid I have had to drain the pan a few times as cleaning is still going on, the transmission shifts without any hesitation, it feels like a new transmission, I did add Amsoil ATF so it is hard to say how much credit goes to Auto-Rx or Amsoil ATF.
Hmmm...I wasn't planning to drop the pan and change the filter again so soon (12K miles ago). It sounds like I might have to consider it though. If I do, it will get a complete flush (BG machine) too.
There is no need to drop the pan just follow the application instructions. Adding new transmission fuid does not do anything except give clean parts full lubrication. Go with T-Tech as they can pressure regulate cleaning and refilling of unit without any seal problems.
I did the ARX in the transmission a few months back on a 99 lexus es300 u140e transmission with toasted nearly black fluid. I had just bought the vehicle. I put in 6 oz of ARX. After 1000 miles I drained and refilled 3 times with a quick drive in between each, and replaced with Amsoil synthetic ATF. I now feel much more comfortable driving my car the way I want to and not worrying about the fragility of the transmission. I can't say that I noticed smoother shifting or anything, but I'm sure it didn't hurt. I'm also on an ARX rinse phase for my engine right now and I do notice the difference there with drastically less smoking. My wife wants me to drink a bottle of ARX hoping it might reduce my gas - Frank, what is the application procedure for that, I didn't see it listed?
