Armstrong to NASA: You are an embarassment

Since the earlya 80's neoliberals have largely been responsible for the free market ideas that helped deregulate the banking system, financialize the US economy, and convince everyone that monetary policy was the end all be all. Of course, monetarism is now dead to the point where its followers have been forced to rebrand it. But never mind all of that. The systematic deconstruction of the US economy via these misguided economic theories are just a minor detail, right? Right? What a joke. The country is becoming a big joke..

Wait, are you saying we should not try to save degenerates.. sorry, the people suffering from hunger on the streets?

Cancellation of a working solution without a back-up redundancy was an act of sabotage. But it was not the first time, unfortunately

NASA's 2010 budget was 18 billion. That's about 75 bucks per person per year. That's not a drop in the bucket. It's up to each individual whether it's worth it or not. Unfortunately, it's not up to each individual if they want to pay it.

If more things were laid out like this, how much you personally paid, I wonder how much less spending our government would do.

Very well said.

So what we need is massive government spending, distributed by central planners correct?

And, if as you have stated previously, government can create wealth, what do we need a private sector for?

If government spending gives a multiplier of 1.2-1.5, then a 100% centrally planned economy should automatically increase GDP by 120-150%, correct?

Wall St gangsterism and corporatist politicians sold the country out. Sad times for a nation that allowed all it's wealth to filter to the top 1% and allowed financial institutions to dominate.

"Food insecure" is a meaningless term, and as such, so is that "study". 1 in 7 people are on food stamps already. Is your answer to increase that and make more people dependent on their sustenance from the government? I think it is.

Education has increase by 2 fold (inflation adjusted) in the last few decades. Politicians have simply promised more than the people under their rule can provide.

In your particular universe, maybe.

Why? You have expressed your opinion that NASA should be kept. This is only rational if you feel that it nets out a benefit to the people paying for it. If it doesn't generate wealth or improve society, what good is it?

A discussion of those benefits is key.

Motion approved. It COULD have been a good thread... The good which was part of the technological progress was under discussion, until it became highly politicized.
