I called the local game and fish office that day to find out how to dispose of the snake. It was already in the garbage can at that point but I wondered if that was okay. She told me to throw it in the garbage.

100 % not true. If you can't stand rattlesnakes do not live where rattlesnakes live. Try western Washington or the northern part of western Oregon. Coyotes and bear do in fact track and kill people. Oops, coyotes and bear live in Washington and Oregon. I have $ 100 that says you have never been attacked by a rattlesnake. I live around them and I have never been attacked by one. I do pay attention to where I put my hands and feet.I've never seen a bear or coyote attack anyone, not that they haven't I've just never heard of it in our area. These snakes on the other hand will bite and kill people. They can't be near people, they are hard to see and easy to step on.
