I got a call from my friend, seems his neighbor has a 3 year old Ariens 921012, its a Deluxe 27 with a 249cc Engine. I believe it is out of Warranty, seems my friends neighbor paid about $900.00

He was wondering what it was worth, I was thinking as long as it runs and since it is out of warranty, then maybe $300.00

It also seems that this model has been discontinued, any thoughts or suggestions?

My friend is gonna buy it from his neighbor, he's the buyer, not the seller.

if it looks like new its worth 600$

I'd offer 450-500$
300 would be very lowball.

this is a neighbor eh? not a craigslister?

So I probably wouldnt insult with a lowball. maybe more discuss what the neighbor thinks its worth.

Why is the neighbor selling it? Is he motivated to sell? why else would he be selling it in the middle of snowblower season?

From what my friend told me, his neighbor is about 76 years old and he can't handle the snowblower. He did say that his neighbor was gonna try and find a Blue Book Value for the Snowblower, I don't think they have a Blue Book for Snowblowers.

Offer $500 in that case. That's still more than half of what it cost when it was new, so be ready for him to counter with $600.

$300 seems like a steal!

I have the same blower in a 24" 249cc briggs, awesome blower no cheap platic parts $300 is way to low for that machine. its a steal at $500. Depending on condition of course.

In November and December that may be a $500 machine. However, we're well over halfway through the snow season and retailers are starting to discount their remaining stock. It was, among other places, sold at Home Depot who has a current model available for around $800.

Right now it's perhaps a $400-$500 machine. A month from now that will indeed be a $300 machine and he'll probably sit on it until early fall. Simply put it's the beginning of the wrong time of the year to sell snow blowers.
