I work as a techniciain in the windturbine industry and a lot grease and lubricants that we use come from Fuchs, these are milion euro contracts with warranties etc...
They are a multi million dollar company who make oils for almost every application imaginable and, according to wikipedia they also made lubricants for the concorde.

How come that we rararely here about fuchs on bitog? Is it not that popular or available in the USA?

I personally have not used fuchs in a personal vehicle yet but will probably try it in the future.

Cause people generally don't know what it is. I never heard of it. Maybe I should try Fuchs in my Fusion.

Not readily available really. Here in Vancouver we have a German parts specialist who carries it and I have used a few different blends in my own car several times. I'm sure it's adequate for the job but also nothing outstanding.

Tried to buy it a few years ago and it was extremely difficult to procure so I ended up just using Motul. I've found Ravenol isn't overly difficult to get either.

Total is a supermajor but does virtually no business in the US; they recently left the API

Where can you even buy Fuchs in the USA? If you can't buy it, fuch it, buy something else instead :sneaky: 👻

Liqui Moly is a smaller company, but their entire catalog is available at any Napa, or they can get it if not in stock at your local Napa.

Marketed as 'Silkolene' in the US for motorcycle oils and fairly easy to find. I've used their 2 stroke premix oil before. I had no issues with it but they don't put dye in it, at least not when I tried it. That's a major negative for me.

They are the manufacturer for John Deere in Australia. We use a couple grease products but it’s just by luck. We order the tubes from McMaster Carr and that’s what we are sent.

okay so from my understanding it much easier to get it here in europe than the states, but even here their marketing is basicly non existent.
You wont find them in any autostore shop etc.. either.

Maybe someone from germany can give an insight on how it is there?

I think they just dont really care about there automotive line up and focus more on heavy machinery/industrial etc.. where you dont sell per 5 liters but per x amount of thousends of litres.

ECS tuning used to offer Fuchs and a couple other European parts outlets based here in the states did too. I wouldn't hesitate to use it if the quality and price justified its purchase.

There isn't any indication that they are significantly "better" than any other brand with the same approval or certification, right? Certainly nothing that would make me hunt the unicorn here.

Factory fill or "largest independent" is decidedly un-technical and doesn't mean a thing to me.

I remember what the oem fuchs bmw oil was, Pentosin chf11 for the powersteering system. According to wiki Fuchs bought pentosin in 2012 so that clarifies it.

All joking aside, I've used the Silkolene Pro 4 M/C oil. It was okay, but the bikes shifted better with Motul 300V 4T. So that's what I use.
