Also for Supertech it says "100 percent synthetic base oils". Interesting statement, any actual validity there?

I saw the Quaker State listing also on their web site. It shows a picture of QS Advanced Durability 5 qt jug but it says Ultimate Durability for $14.47. This is for 0W-20. Try ordering it on line for store pick up and see what they want to give you. Print out the web page and take it with you when you go to pick it up in case they deny it. I'm stocked up with enough oil for several years otherwise I'd try it

Im running the supertech. I wouldnt use it in break-in again.

"100% Fully synthetic" in the U.S. means grpIII mineral oil base at a minimum. Some stocks are converted from solid wax refinery byproducts - like Mobil 1 majority base stocks.
Not saying its bad - but it's not small, pure building blocks forming engineered PAO Or POA.
And Im also not saying that's best, either.

Looks like at typical WM pricing error. Picture shows Quaker State Advanced Durability and the description is Quaker State Ultimate Durability. My bet is that it is for Quaker State Advanced Durability.

Why's that? What did you observe?

I would do the same if I needed oil. Your state may vary but the law here states that the description is what you get. If they put the wrong picture under that description, you win.

It could be on rollback too.

p.s. this probably belongs in the sales and rebates section

Define synthetic oil.

100% base oils does not always mean 100% of what is in the bottle. Supertech is a group III oil that is a hydrocracked and highly refined mineral oil which is what most US "synthetic" oil is predominantly made from.

The term "synthetic" in oil means about as much as "natural" does in food products in the US

Which version SuperTech was that? In the States they have a Warren version; a Mobil 1 version; and a Citgo version. I've tried the Citgo version and I was very impressed. I think it's smoother than the Quaker State Ultimate Durability I have in there now.

There is a ExxonMobil produced version, but not a Mobil 1 version...the two are not the same thing.

So the current victim is a Nissan with CVT?
It'll be interesting to see how the CVT holds up in your hands.
I'm not predicting a long life for it.
If I'm wrong, then we can safely conclude that Nissan has mastered the design and manufacture of CVT transmissions.
I'm sure you'll let us know when or if the thing breaks.

It was Warren, and has been good in the distant past in our Suzuki. I think the Rogue came with a lighter oil from the factory in Japan and the true 30 grade was a shock in our cold winter this past season. It had a lot of churn and drag and racket for over 1/2 the hour commute, the engine only seemed to spin up freely after 1/2 hour of driving. Note I am in the early, heavy break in period. The oil Turned mahogany red quickly, though I did get a bad tank of gas this winter at a Mobil station that ran very poorly and cause the engine to motorboat-which its still doing.
The Supertech syn, This is a big Boron % laced product with typical or modal specs for a syn If you reference PQI analysis. May be more at fuel quality and basic grade during break in than anything wrong with the oil, I suspect.
This oil is still in there along with a big Honda Filtech s2000 filter, as Nissan Subaru and Honda all share basic filter specs.

What to run Next?
