Shop at Wall*Mart?
I refuse to go there, based on their business practices, etc.
Just curious - I see they often get "deals" with vendors that nobody else can due to their size and buying power.
I just can't stand the whole thing, so I'm wondering if any other feel that way.
And, FWIW, I don't care about anyone else doing it - like religion, I don't try to per/dissuade anyone from their own choices.
Just curious...as it seems for now that the only place to get PZU for a try is there.
This is another PZU thread. I can't buy it elsewhere unless someone knows of another location?

I will only Ban a Vender if they treat ME badly.
I have no problems with Walmart up to now.

I have zero problems shopping there personally. I enjoy getting pretty darn low prices as a whole.Times are tough these days and every saved penny helps.

You have a skewed view of the reasons why. They are the best bang for the buck & have quality products that can't be had any cheaper. Convenience is important. I think they are the largest employer in the country, maybe the world. Your reasons are purely political and you must not have any concerns to saving a nickel.

^^2nd. Whoever gets me the lowest prices gets my money.

I shop at Walmart and will continue to do so. If other businesses are being pushed out by them or are complaining about customers being stolen try working hard like Walmart does to provide those products at low prices and things will pick up. I work hard for my money and will spend it where I get the most for it.

I have no problem until I am personally treated poorly. They do have the best automotive section around. I usually shop Target for anything else though. The prices are comparetive and the quality is higher, meat and produce are MUCH fresher also

Yes, I know people who won't. Many reasons not to are valid and well articulated.

I'm sure the detrimental impact of being too large is fresh in our minds.

I will always shop at Walmart just because my wife works at my local store. And I get a 10% off to boot. Many people complain about how they treat workers and what not. But my wife has no complaints and she's been working there for 10 years now. Yes, they start people out low, but you have to stick with them to work your way up. She makes a good wage, and the health ins. plans are good. Shoot for our family plan its only $50 a month out of her paycheck. And they provide her with company stock options and a retirement plan. And one last thing, it's a job.

With so many people out of work, I glad to support where my wife works.

But if anyone whats to spend more of their harded earned money elsewhere for the same china stuff then so be it. Because what you pay more for at your local mom & pop store all comes from the same place. It's just they don't have the buying power to get the product cheaper then Walmart. As for wages. The local mom & pop stores around my area pay less the Walmart for the same type of work. IMO mr. mom & pop can just kick rocks if you can handle the heat of Walmart in the area.

I prefer Meijers just because it is a Michigan company. But I do shop at Walmart on occasion, mostly for oil and sometimes a DVD or something. IMO, their food and produce sections are weak in comparison to Meijers. The fruits and veggies at Meijer are fantastic.

I buy a lot at Walmart because this is a fairly small town and we have limited options. I am not pleased with their redo. One reason why I shopped there so much in the past was the wide variety of things they stocked. My time is worth something. I am more likely now to go elsewhere if I figure the odds of them having what I want are better even if the price is a little higher.

Also if you buy everything you can at Walmart or Lowes, pretty soon you won't have anyplace to buy the stuff they don't have. I am a frequent customer at my family owned Ace Hardware. And not just little junk.

I usually find myself there several days a week. I live in a small area and the Wal-mart is the center of town. I find the auto sections at K-mart and Target are lacking.

Wal-mart was willing to make a big investment in this area at a time when it was in a deep local depression following the closure of Plattsburgh AFB and years of a high US dollar.

A quick look through its the parking lot reveals it's a big draw for Canadians combining vacation with deal hunting. Most are from Québec, naturally, but some Ontarians shop there, too.

I don't shop there for many of the same reasons others don't. Once you kick the WalMart addiction you realize you don't need them.

It also helps that the nearest Walmart is 45mins in either direction.

We've got similar debates here regarding the ALDI in town and the woolworths/coles chains.

Aldi employs maybe 4-5 people per shift, the supermarkets 25-30.

60(ish) percent of those 25-30 are kids on their first jobs, and regularly are children of people I know and work with.

Wish I (and the rest of the town) felt similarly when the supermarkets closed down the corner stores and fruit/veg shops.

17 yrs working at a Wal Mart Distribution Center and I couldn't be happier, great pay, benefits plus the 10% discount when shopping at the store, SuperCenter is in the future here and a lot of locals can't wait, cracks me up when I read these posts bashing Wal Mart, sounds like a disgruntled former customer-Loser

Walmart stocks everything I need in depth and in breadth. The trouble with my experience with local stores is that they are out of the item I need when I need it. FWIW Oldtommy

I will only buy oil there, nothing else. I find that the other products are sometimes in some ways lacking in quality compared to similar products available elsewhere.

I believe in competition. Kind of like GM going out of business, if every other store goes away, it will have ramifications for the economy as a whole.

Plus, given the lines, the parking hassle, and the annoying nature of many of the people there for various reasons, it isnt worth the hassle to shop there. Our k-mart gives a far better shopping experience.
