Are seat cushion modifications still possible?

I'm thinking about my next car after the 200 dies. It's not the most comfortable car but I keep trying out different cars and keep running into dead ends. My ES 350 didn't work not only because the Titanic could teach a few things about how to stay dry due to undisclosed problems, but also because the seat was still too firm, it caused me to hunch over, and the headrest was terrible. I'm struggling to find any cars that don't have terrible seats regardless of the brand. And yes I've sat in Volvo's. They still are too. Firm. What I'm wanting to know is if I were to find another es350 this time without any damage. If it would be possible to modify the cushions be more akin to a '99 LHS through modifications to the seat cushions to where it's both supportive yet. Well padded. Is that possible. Price isn't a concern that.

There isn't much you can do to a modern car seat to change the comfort or feel of it, they're all solid foam construction. The only thing you can really do is change the covering with something offered by a company like Katzkins.

Your best bet is to find a car with seating you find comfortable and buy it. From what OP said he likes, I'd take a look at Buicks.

I’ve found it possible to modify the shape by tightening, loosening, repairing the springs and bracing behind the foam. It’s all trial and error and do and redo. For some reason cloth holds me more comfortably and leather seems hard. Ventilated seats can also cost some plushness.

I knew a late 90s LHS pretty well, those were soft seats which also sagged over time, but they certainly had a good base over them.

Maybe buy a good seat from matching model of car from a JY, and start fiddling with the construction and padding yourself? I’ve been pleased at times with repairing seats and making them suit my needs, with mixed results.

Padded covers might be a good way to go too.
