Are Pickup Truck Drivers Dangerous ?

It nearly slipped my mind. Around here, the Charger and Challenger crowd are the absolute worst.
I was sitting at a red light when all of a sudden one Charger turns in the same direction I was going and punches it then another Charger behind him turns and punches it going in the opposite direction and you know how loud those are . Nuts

Humans are the common denominator in all the madness. They are sketchy and unreliable. Its the main reason we havent seen Aliens, they all turn around and beat feet back to where they came once they get a good look at whats going on here.

I find its pretty rate anyone
I'm not saying all Pickup Truck Drivers are dangerous but it seems like alot of 20-30 year old drivers are . Have you noticed this to ?
There's the odd one driving a bit fast around here, but not too many of the locals. The odd donorcycle does a top speed run on a highway within earshot around dusk, but I think eventually they zip by a deer and realize its only a matter of time....

Back to the pickups though, as large pickups get older and presumably sold to younger and/or more risk taking people, more people die in many of them than the nationwide fleet average for similar age vehicles. Like 6 times as many people die in 2008 Nissan Titans, than in 2008 Honda Accords... You would think if both Accord and Titan drivers drove equally well and safely, the near double mass of the Titan would result in less deaths, but somehow they kill themselves at 6 times the rate?

Since I started to ride a motorcycle two years ago I have noticed most full size truck drivers think they’re the king of the road. The brodozer bros are the worst with riding up your ass in the fast lane.
Been riding Motorcycles since I was about 11 years old and the last time I rode a M/C was 3 years ago . I am 70 years old and when riding you find out every vehicle on the road is out to get you.

Agreed 👍 especially a white Rogue.

what specific reason causes more deaths in a Nissan Titan p/u than Honda accord?

I have done top end runs starting on a Honda 50 cc tthrough a 1000 cc well maintained friends Kawasaki Ninja and I am still here.

just a p.s.a. there is no such thing as the fast lane. it is the passing lane and you are to move over to the right land when it is safe to do so. just read some post that refer to the left lane as the fast lane and wanted to clear that up.

Probably largely regional too, I see both more aggressive pickups and more lifted pickups here in suburban TX than suburban VA - there isn’t a rhyme or reason to those driving with their high beams on though.

But there is a constant, Nissan Altimas. (obligatory r/NissanDrivers plug)

Oh now you've gone and done it lol.

Shooting Cars even acknowledged that Nissan Altimas have a stigma about them in a recent review.
So, just to pile on about the Altimas...

Now, also about the topic... drivers of anything can be dangerous! I've seen old people make a right turn on red right into traffic, much like a drunk person would (or a blind one.) The stigma of "what car has what kind of driver" has always changed, and may change from area to area (for awhile it was Hondas. Idk. Now that I'm a little older, I'd have to remember back about the stereotypes or stigmas associated with what and where.)

I could share personal detail of my time with my first BMW - my 2nd car - and what driving it like an idiot could accomplish it for you. That car had a blown head gasket too (from Day One when I bought it from someone used) and they say.. if youth knew. If age could. http://www.unofficialbmw.com/phpBB/...iew=next&sid=261768a9c0eea36d55fc4992fc1c17d4

I once had a Ford F150 work truck toy with my Subaru on a wide open stretch of highway for miles, tailgating and speeding up slowing down and passing and just generally acting weird, and matching my speed when I sought to remove myself from the situation.. early morning on a two-lane highway out here... there was nothing I could do and I eventually became worried because I suspected a possible drunk driver and I then sought to exit the situation, which was a very difficult thing to do when the truck is significantly faster than your car.. people assume you have to be doing something to be targeted in road "incidents" and you do not, people are just crazy arrogant stupid pigheaded or possibly drunk.. don't assume trucks aren't fast...

what specific reason causes more deaths in a Nissan Titan p/u than Honda accord?
I don't know, probably a multitude of factors, and just random chance as well , but I'd assume some of differences are from the type of drivers who pick these vehicles?

You are including tradesman and financially irresponsible people in the same group, how are we going to tell you a responsible answer to that?

Final scene of road rage incident that started with this guy driving inches from my son’s tailgate - yes, it’s a real problem …
(vehicles are required to have front plates - his missing) …

I really hope that is from a dashcam because it looks like your son should have best been ready to blast that fool. That looks like a gun the driver of that pictured vehicle has?

Yes, after passing on the right shoulder and trying to push him into oncoming - son shut it down a went into fight ready mode - guy pulled a gun … He has camera’s front/rear …

On the narrow back roads, sometimes I get miffed with the bigger vehicles not moving over enough in their own lane. Really annoying--I mean, c'mon, you've got a lift kit and 4WD, and my FWD ain't built to handle the dirt shoulder.

But while I've seen a few brodozers and some questionable driving, TBH it seems to be pretty even across all vehicle types, at least in my area. I could count on one hand the number of people I've seen rolling coal in 10 years.

YMMV. I live in a semi-rural area and avoid driving when I can.
I think I know what you mean going over the bridge to work. It’s often only 2 lanes eastbound. SUVs and pickups seem “scared” of the barrier and so they’re 1/4 to 1/2 in the lane to their right. If that were necessary, how would buses and tractor trailers be able to cross

I am really happy nothing further happened. One thing about being from NJ and I apologize if this sounds any type of way but "people don't really have guns" (maybe cars with PA plates do.. another discussion for another day) but yes, I experience stuff like that a lot in the places I go. I don't really understand it. But there ARE some people that are hyperaggressive with their vehicles and it's NOT cool.

I am of the opinion that people not having guns (generally. Of course some do but) as a vast majority of the whole. I am of the opinion that the lack of deadly consequences from "road incidents" leads to "football mentality" ("helmet mentality?") Where in essence.. even if contact is made.. oh so what, insurance and exchange pleasantries. It's dangerous, for sure. When I drive out of NJ, I'm aware that the wrong one may just blast you if you do the wrong thing. And I act accordingly. But that is just me...

And I don't drive slow and I know how to drive "safe while fast".. there is driving in a speedy manner, and there is driving like an ******. I see a little bit of both. Like when people cut off others after tailgating on two lane roads, right lane to left lane.... I see all sorts.. Glad your son was OK. Sincerely.
