Are John Deere branded lawn tractor batteries OK?

Some things improve with age, but batteries are not one of them. Wait until spring, then pick one from the back of the shelf six deep for the latest build date.
I replaced the factory battery after 4 years on a 2011 320X in 2015.
Nine years later it’s still working perfectly, but I do charge it before putting it away for the season and again in the spring.
Canadian Tire branded OE Plus 350 cca pn #10-2053-8 U1 size $99.99, which converts to $72 USD.
Today spend $40 and get $10 bonus Canadian Tire money.

Happened to walk by the battery section at Walmart and saw this Everstart U1.

I have had nothing but problems with the cheap lawn tractor batteries. Lucky to get two years out of them. Had one somehow leak acid all around one of the terminals. The last cheapy one I got from Tractor supply, Died after less than a year. Took it back for under one year warranty. They laughed at me and said 90 warranty.
Well that ended that. Bought a JD Strongbox and now going on 5 years. Cheaper in the long run.

The U1 in the community’s John Deere Lawn Tractor crapped out after 4 years so I picked up the Walmart Everstart 300 CCA. Here are a few pics.
It showed 12.8 volts and a rather optimistic 443 CCA. It was “ Made in USA “ with domestic and imported materials

Couldn't you just have told us how much??

You're too challenged to do the work of clicking a simple link?
Besides that was so six months ago.
The price may have changed since then..
Clicking the link assures pricing at present.

All 5 of my John Deere tractors have had one John Deere battery in them... the one that I bought them with.
After that, it was either Fleet Farm or Rural King.
The only maintenance item that I buy from JD is Lo-Vis HyGard, because it is reasonably priced for what it is. Everything else is a hard no.

Their Cool-Gard coolant is hard to beat. One of the few that won't eat the solder out of brass radiators.

The JD LoVis HyGard is $6.XX a quart. I can get it for less at my dealer, if I bring my own container and buy it out of their 55 gallon drum (bulk discount).

A Deka Outdoorsman U1 should sell for maybe $50 USD.

But there are going to be any number of different issues recommending anything. Most of what you're going to find is made in the US and that complicates things especially with exchange rates and tariffs.

Canadian Tire has a variety of different U1 batteries. East Penn is one of the suppliers, but who knows with any particular battery.
