My neighbor bought one then decided to get a fancier toilet...I never heard of Briggs...I always had American Standard and they lasted over 30 years...He wants 100 bucks for it...Since I need one and have someone to put it in it sounds like a good deal...Just that I never heard of Briggs.

Thanks in advance.

Who ever remodeled our bathroom installed one of those 'el cheapo toilet in a box from Lowes or Home Depot. It was horrible. Uncomfortable height and clogged on a weekly basis.

I looked at reviews and found this to be one of the best rated flushers at a cheap price. Be warned the Q/C on these are low so there many with defects. I opened two boxes and took the better looking one. Most defects are minor and just in the glaze. But its not uncommon to find one that one will be out of level with respect to the bowl and bottom. Take a level and check.

I think I gave like $140 minus a 20 off 50 or more coupon. I'm quite satisfied with its looks and performance. And I was looking into pressure assisted ones before. Decided cost and noise ruled them out.

Just saw the guy and offered him $75...At first he said no then finally agreed...Going to put it in tomorrow.

Thanks all for comeback.

Soldierman, I had the same issues with the American Standard I bought at Home Despot. I opened 7 boxes to find one that sat level. I know you can shim them, but I wanted to avoid that.

I wonder if this is one of those times where people say the big box stores get the lesser quality items of a given brand.

Sorry to go off topic here.

Check you water agency, they may have rebate for High-Efficiency Toilets. A couple Briggs toilets are eligible for some $, these models are eligible:
4208: 4375 bowl, 4484 tank
4207: 4370 bowl, 4484 tank

We can get up to $150 rebate per toilet in So Cal.

silly me - until a couple years ago I thought that "a toilet is a toilet". well, after constant clogging from the builder toilets I finally found out that there are flush ratings. duh! huge difference! no more clogging!

We have two Briggs Vacuity toilets. I bought one when we moved in 9 years ago, then bought a second a few years later. They both work fine. They're a low flow but have a special design where as the water empties from the tank it pulls a slight vacuum on the far side of the water trap (there's a blow molded part in the tank that acomplishes this). I'd say they work about as well as the old full flow toilets. I like the design, it's clever, no high pressure, uses standard fill valve, flapper, etc. in the tank. I'm satisfied with them.

The cadet 3 uses a 3" flap, yes its non standard. But Is a good solution to "fix" the problem of poor flush due to the 1.6 gallon standard set a while back. Between that and a larger than standard trapway it works really well.

Several members of my family own houses that were built before those regulations and still have 5 gallon units. I can say with 100% honesty the cadet 3 I have out does nearly every one of them.

I think its a lot due to the speed that 1.6 gallons leaves the tank and the bowl. The flush cycle is nearly complete before your hand leaves the lever.

Ya the one I got wasn't perfect and I did end up shimming some. I set it 3 times without the wax. Got everything where I wanted and marked shims and out line. I sat it in grout leaving some gaps by the bolts so water could get out should it ever leak. I waxed the floor under the grout to try to keep it from permanently bonding should I ever need to move it.

Some of the users are on the heavy side and I wanted to minimize movement as much as possible.

terrylove.com is where I see a large number of toilet reviews.

If the toilet flushes the load each time, the only things that I see that could affect reliability are the flapper, lever, and fill valve.

Put in the Briggs today...For what I paid for it I am happy with it...Comparing it to the American Standard in the other bathroom which I got in 2003 the Briggs takes about 10 seconds longer to fill up and the water level is slightly lower.

Thanks all for the comeback

I looked into a few when I was doin bank construction... the builder we worked with used them in nearly ever new bank. I was very impressed with the flush. It seemed powerful enough to take a tennis shoe. :-0 But the thought of me or my spouse needing to flush in the middle of the night.... EH pass.
