different materials have a diffeent affinty to various AW/EP additives. Then you have the various temp. and pressure levels needed to activate various AW/EP additives. Their is no way that I am aware of to equate how much of one wear metal will be reduced by any one given additive. I think that we do know though that if you put as many additives as the oil can hold it helps keep wear down. It is not possable to put 1500ppm of zink,800 ppm of moly,300ppm of Born etc.... in a conventional oil you have to have a lot of esters to hold that much AW/EP additive package in solution.
I think it is safe to say that Zink is the best bang for the buck and that 1200-1500 ppm seems to be about the ideal amount if you take API out of the picture. I also think it is safe to say that as the quality of the base stock increases you can get buy with less additives and keep wear about the same if extended oil changes are not needed. It is also safe to assume that we are not going to see cutting edge additive packages from big oil! The big oil companys do not want to leave too much money on the shelf wich is why we are still not seeing all of the new additives in large amounts yet. I suspect that the better known exotic oils like Redline,Penrite,Motul,Fuchs etc.... are going to be the ones that start playing around with the more exotic additives.
I am hopeful that Specialty Formulations will soon bring some exotic suoer performing oil to us soon!
