ARCO top tier gas, not so much top tier!

That sounds like it's on that individual station/owner.

There are plenty of screw ups that make the news over all the brands. That article has a link to a Circle K incident.

I posted about Sam's club having diesel put into the gas tank by mistake (thread is somewhere below this).
70% water? Too much!
You're right it's individual station but it doesn't reflect positively on the brand

Had problems with arco gas a few times years ago. Yea I'm one of those slow guys. Don't get my vehicles near arco gas these days.

My go-to has always been Shell. If it's not available in the area that I'm in, Chevron comes second with Exxon/Mobil a close third.

The slow pumping is a sure sign of a clogged filter. I dislike fuel stations that neglect changing them causing the pump to come to a crawl. I've left stations to go to the competition to avoid the delay. Never had major issues like this though but goes along with store owner neglect of their pumps.

This has nothing to do with the brand of gas retailer (ARCO). These problems happen to many fuel stations regardless of what brand is sold. Feel free to avoid what you want, but if you avoided brands which have had individual problems at local stations, you'd never be able to buy fuel. Most all gas stations are independently owned/operated, and so those stations are only as good as their management team and processes.

I lived on the west coast for a bit and consistently got worse gas mileage when using Arco compared to other brands.

If the line is short while I'm at Costco, I'll get gas there, otherwise I use Arco. Never a problem.
Costco can arguably be the best place to get gas considering how much gas they sell. Someone posted here that the average Costco gets multiple tanker deliveries a day so there isn't going to be somewhere with fresher gas (other than Sam's but they aren't top tier). I recall reading here that Costco checks the fuel filters regularly so you won't get a clogged slow filling pump there.

I've heard good arguments here for Shell Premium for those that use Premium in a high performance or expensive premium required vehicle.

People hate the long lines but I find that the lines move quickly there with the center lane that allows people space to pull out of the rear pumps. Sam's can be a lot slower as they don't have as wide a.space to pull out of a pump.

I use busy gas stations only, usually Costco or other Top Tier. Fresh fuel and frequent return customers help with the idea of being assured of getting decent quality. A bottle of Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner every few months, and it is all good to go.
