Not everyone fits that description. I was not a fan many years ago back in the 90s and nothing has changed.

If I were in Samsung shoes I would say: "you know what? want to play a triple game? Ok, now our price for screens,RAM,CPUs and SSDs that we supply to you will triple also".

Industrial practice:

It is important to remember that there are many sources for every components. Even if your supplier is not your competitor you can still run into natural disaster and incidents (fire, etc) that can destroy your supply.

So if Samsung wants to 3x the price, the only one losing will be themselves as everyone else will pick up the businesses.

Samsung has lots of patents on those parts

And I don't remember anyone making that many quality touch screens for mobile devices other than Samsung.
Yes, Apple can find other supply of SSDs,RAM and Cpus, but I don't think so about screens.

Don't you think such supplier arrangements are guarded by multi-year contracts at pre-agreed prices? If Samsung were to triple the prices, they would be liable for breach of contract and Apple could sue them again for non-compliance.

From a while ago:

"Samsung value drops $10B as investors fear it being cut out of Apple supply chain"
http://appleinsider.com/articles/12/05/1...le_supply_chain

"Apple accounts for about 9 percent of Samsung’s revenue, making it the company’s largest customer"
http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-09-24/samsung-apple-disney-leadscope-intellectual-property

Samsung is not going to do ANYTHING that can jeopardize their accounts with Apple.

And considering Apple has already begun finding new suppliers, Samsung may have to start trying to win Apple back.

Sharp builds the screens for the new iPhone.

Sharp also make high end screens.

Then again, the industrial practice when relationship goes sour is they don't go back to existing product to switch vendors, because that'll require too much engineering test / design change / manufacturing adjustment. What they usually do is exclude hostile vendors from future bids or merely switch their role from primary sources to secondary sources (reduce volume).

SO if company x did this, would you never buy a company x product? Because Im pretty sure this happens all the time.

Samsung has always been a copy cat, great at manufacturing, but they need to copy others before figuring out how to do it them selves. Who ever is the market leader in the area Samsung wishes to enter, Samsung will copy.

Of course it happens all the time. People just like to make a point. It's like the "don't get gas on X day" thing. Yeah, you're really sticking it to Exxon...

Whatever makes people feel good. If they feel good by not buying Apple stuff, then I'm happy for them.
