I have and both 550VA and 350VA APC UPS units I bought in 2015.

Highly rated aftermarket batteries on Amazon are over half the price of OE APC replacements ($20 vs $55).

Would you be concerned using an aftermarket Chinese lead acid battery in a UPS or should I just go OEM?

I usually go to Batteries Plus and get the replacement batteries for my UPSs. I've been very happy with them.
Great option. I just looked them up, available for $48. I can bring my old battery to make sure it has the right dimensions. Apparently even the APC replacement batteries on Amazon have issues with fitment and the connectors being changed during production.

I buy the Amazon specials. They last 5-6 years. I just swapped out two of them last week.

I quadrupled the size of one that had a tiny battery for much longer run times on my modem if the power goes out.

Major brand batteries from companies that have been around a while are generally ok. I would avoid off-brand and new upstart company batteries. I have an old Ferrups UPS configured for external batteries. I've been handing-down weak car batteries to it. 200ca is weak for a car, but can power a UPS for several more years.

Powersonic is a well known brand, and often on sale. 12V 7AH or 9AH is a typical size for consumer UPS batteries. Either will work. About $18-20ea on Amazon if you purchase a 2 pack.

Homeless Depot sells the "Mighty Max" brand, and they are OK also. Typically $30.

Batteries Plus sells Duracell, which is just a rebrand of an import.

They are ALL foreign made under the 12Ah rating, subjective but I wouldn't expect any significant lifespan differences.

My only comment about the Power-Sonic from HD, is to confirm the terminal size in the description. When I replaced a battery there were two that appeared exactly the same but one was a buck or so cheaper. Guess which one I bought? Yep, it had the smaller F1 (3/16") instead of the larger F2 (1/4") of the original. I crimped the terminal down a bit so it fit snugly and has been working fine for at least 6 months. There are actual "adapters" between sizes, but I opted to just let it run.

I would go with aftermarket. Have had no issues whatsoever with aftermarket FiOS battery replacements. I do have an APC and the OE battery is $202 online, aftermarket $126. I'd go with the replacement that has the most reviews and save the difference....
