I am referring to Oil Filter Mopar MO-899. same as PH2.
It is a large diameter, SHORT length. 22 mm threads.
Engine is a 2008 Chrysler Sebring 2.7 liter

Anyway to find a TALL FILTER that would work/ equivalent?
Doesn't need to be MOPAR. I have the room.
A Taller filter would be actually easier to install for me.
This short filter is really a pain to install/ remove.

Would a Tall filter affect my oil pressure/ anything detrimental?
Thanks..

You can look up your application on Purolator's filter finder, and get all the characteristics:

http://www.purolatorautofilters.net/resources/Popup/Pages/PartDetailPopup.aspx?partnum=PL24651

If you then can find a long version that has the same thread pitch/diameter, the same bypass relief pressure, same gasket face diameter, etc. then it will work fine. Its those issues that matter, not size.

I've never actually found a bigger version for the PL24651 (MO-899) because its already a decent-sized filter, especially for a something as small as a 2.7L My older Chrysler/Jeep products which use the P14670 ALWAYS get a PL3001, which is bigger in diameter, bigger in length, and has way more surface area. It has the same thread pitch, gasket diameter, and bypass pressure, so other than providing far more filter area, it doesn't have any effect at all.

I had to do the same thing when researching the large oil filter for my sc and gs. The pl10241 is the filter specified,, but the pl20195 is exactly the same specs but much taller. I got this information by searching on Toyota and Lexus forums as well and a little searching using purolator's nifty and detailed web site.

If you find one, let me know what it is. We've got a Chrysler 4.7 that uses the same filter and has plenty of room for a longer filter.

You could do this.... http://forums.themustangsource.com/f801/1-qt-fl-1a-size-oil-filter-fits-3-7l-489066/

Looks pretty restrictive. The ID of that adaptor is not very big. I guess one could drill it larger in addition to turning the hex off on a lathe... but no thanks.

The one thing I DO like about the newer 22mm thread filters is that the central oil return port is a good bit larger than the old SAE thread filters like the PL30001. I think filter fitting restriction is going to be a bigger factor on these new engines that run Xw20 oils than it was in the days of Xw40 because they flow such a large volume of thin oil.

What I'd like to find is a larger 22mm thread filter with the same media, same bypass pressure, etc.

the Wix 51087 is 5 1/2" long, an inch longer than the51372 (fl820)
However the bypass valve setting a whopping 19psi!
It's designed for Ford diesel tractor motors... I don't think 1" would be worth the hassle with this filter..
the 57502 is 4" with a 8psi bypass valve.. whereas the OE eqivalent 51372 is spec'd at 16psi.
I'd stick with the 51372 (or PH2 size) to keep it within spec.
You could get a filter adapter/relocation kit and stick the 51515 (ph8a) on instead... (or larger).
