Anything better than a CX5 out there, yet?

What trim level of Stelvio did you drive, and what didn't you like about it?

My wife wants to consider trading the Giulia for a Stelvio, because she finds it hard loading the dogs into the back seat.
The rear doors don't open wide enough for her to stuff a 50 lbs dog with bad hips back there.

BC.
It was a 2018. I am not sure the trim, but it had 255s on it. The entire experience was just dull, to be honest. It didnt sound good. It wasnt fast compared to others in its segment. The handling and steering were nothing special. The transmission was super laggy even in Dynamic on everything except upshifts, which were nice and snappy. The tech is very outdated even on the 2022s. No ventilated seats. No hud. No torque vectoring. Still costs $55k. Somehow. Just overall a dud. A dud with very little dealer support. The Acura RDX put a smile on my face. Nearly the same cost, but I am much happier with it than I would be a Stelvio. Its fun to drive and nicer to boot.

What win me over from the cx5 plan was the torque vectoring, as well as how slick the 10AT is. From a dig its nothing special, but from a roll the engine and 10at combo just stays in the sweet spot. Also, the adaptive suspension is a nice thing. Adjusts every 0.002 seconds per the road, and can change modes to favor comfort or cornering. Its just sportier, and has some better tech.

Sure you did.
Plus my $7500 tax credit. Admittedly, it was whittled to $6500ish because I owed $1K for the year. How this happens when you claim S/0 all year, I don't know, but whatever. Super cool how some brands hold or even build value, huh? And then there's Chrysler...I could put over 50% down what you paid for your Challenger with what I MADE from owning this for a few months. Coolio! So yeah, what buyer's remorse do you think I have? How much? It just gave me a down payment on the next thing, is all.

Yup, in the current market, it's very easy to do that. My SRT is currently worth around 85K-90K, which is 10-15K profit.

I have owned my 2019 CX 5 AWD with the 2.5 turbo now for about two and a half years. I only drive it a couple of times a week since I retired but each time I do I am reminded of just how pleasant a car it is to drive. Is there anything better out there ? I don't think so if you are comparing it to other SUV's in the same price range.

Someone mentioned torque steer. Yes, it has it. It is most noticeable if for example you are waiting to make a left or right turn from a dead stop and you accelerate hard. The engine makes a lot of torque at very low RPM's. But under normal driving conditionsI totally forget that it is AWD only in the respect that it is mostly a FWD car that applies power to the rear wheels when it detects loss of traction in the front wheels.

What I'd really like is a normally aspirated straight 6 with plenty of torque and about 300 HP and a redesigned AWD system that is more of a RWD that applies power to the front wheels when needed. But overall I'm quite happy with the car as it is now. It's a heck of a bargain in the GT-R trim level when you look at all the standard options and features.

What? Impossible according to Ws6. More like 8.5K-9.0K. :ROFLMAO: Only the finest automobiles ever made like a CX5 or RAV4 could be worth ANYTHING. Don't you know they're better than BMW and Audi?

Its an SRT. Thats its own category.
Also, my roommate bought a 2021 q5 for his wife. Paid 55k? Carvana, now 2mo later, says its work 35k. So yeah, screw Audi.

Keep it

Or Tucson Hybrid, 229 HP much better bang for the buck then Toyata or Honda or Mazda. New year for this model. Reviews have been excellent.

Mazda must have changed their AWD system because that is not how the 2017 models work.

I know the latest models have a updated system.

Answering the original question...yes, there are many vehicles that are better than a Mazda CX-5.
While a somewhat acceptable vehicle for its class, it's just another mid-level SUV for the clock punching ilk.

My wife has a 2012 CX-9 . The only mechanical repair that we have ever done was to replace the brake booster . Nothing else . We plan on running the wheels off of it as long as it stays reliable .

Eh, to be fair I work less and make more money than salaried people in my field.

I'm not sure if "clock punching ilk" was meant to be derogatory. I mean, don't really nice cars cost more like six figures, if you really want something nice and capable? Otherwise it's being built to a price point and has compromises.

In a sense, they're all the same--even as you go to uber-stupid in price. 4 tires, 4 doors, point A meet point B. Obsessing over best misses the forest for the trees.

I'm at the 70k mile mark where I sometimes trade. Is there anything better than my cx5 being made for under $45k?

0-60 in 5.7s
#1 car company for reliability, and it's been great!
27mpg average so far.
Awesome AWD.
Not a single creak or rattle even on rutted gravel roads after nearly 70k miles.
Cooled and heated seats, HUD, etc.

Anything out there similarly equipped that performs better and is similarly bulletproof for similar cost that gets 25mpg or better? If not I'll probably just pay off and keep the cx5.

Cars I've already eschewed: q5, x3, stelvio, glc300, rav4, rdx a spec

The wife's sister has a rusted out 2007 edge that's running on 4 of 6 cylinders now... looking at new crossovers, I tried to push her towards one of these or a Toyota.
