I've noticed that Q-Horsepower is fairly difficult to find in anything other than a 5w30 grade in the SE part of Houston, Texas. I would like to try the 5W-20 grade in my wife's 2006 Pilot, but seriously cannot find it. With that in mind, is anyone currently using Q-Horsepower? Q-Horsepower and Pennzoi Platinum are both made by SOPUS. I wonder if SOPUS considers these two oils to be equal in terms of marketing, or if they consider Pennzoil Platinum to be a higher quality oil?

I believe Triple_Se7en is our resident Quaker State fan.

What is the difference between QS Q-Horsepower and Q-Torque full synthetics? I'm sure they are both Gr.3 syns. so why have both?

I used Q horsepower when I got a deal on it at Menards this spring. Ran it for 5500 miles and it did fine and had no burn off in my LHS 3.5HO. It is very thin stuff like water.

When he says thin like water he isn't kidding. I scored some Torque 5W-20 for really cheap, but am scared to use it. I posted here regarding its thinness and no one seemed concerned, but I'm nervous about using typical 5W-20 this stuff was a lot thinner and I can't bring myself to pour it in my car.

It appears that this stuff is very close to its brand sister, PP. I would not hesitate to use it.
I doubt that SOPUS, or any other producer/blender/packager of name brand oil is selling anything that will grenade your engine, as long as you observe the viscocity requirements of the engine manufacturer, or probably even if you ignore them.

I believe QTorque is being discontinued.

I only prefer Quaker State to Pennzoil Platinum due to less consumption with Quaker State - even using a lighter grade (5W-20) than Platinum (5w30) My likes are directed at QTorque Power. I have-yet to use the new QHorsepower.

I just purchased another Platinum to try. This time I'm going heavier in my S-10 with 4.3 engine.... using the 5w-40. That may cure (lower Noack #) my consumption woes with Platinum. But that heavier viscosity won't see the inside of that engine until next fall. I still have a OCI with QTorque Power leftover - to change next week.

When all this oil is gone, I'm thinking about trying Schaeffers 7 in that S-10. I already switched to Amsoil ASL in my Colorado 3.5

Ive never seen that Q Horsepower in 5w20 in Florida yet either, all I could find was 10w30 and now someplacces are starting to carry 5w30. I bought a bunch the Q torque 5w20 at AAP closeout at 2.50 a qt, Iam going to try it next oil change it does look like ice tea in the qt jug, Iam not a big fan of thin oils and Florida being still 90 in October doesnt ease that feeling, But Iam willing to experiment.

I used Q horsepower in my car, poured it out soon after, had to start the car in 4th to keep the tires from spinning.

Isn't Q-Horsepower supposed to be Shell Helix in disguise? I thought I read somewhere that instead of Shell introducing its European/Rest of the World super-premium line of oils to an American market that is already over-saturated with oil brands, they were going to use a well-known American brand to introduce the formula...without telling us, of course.

I'm currently running Q-Torque 10w30 in my 2.0L Mazda. I choose it b/c its the thinnest of my current stash (you know for "winter"; its in the 80's all week

) Combined with a smaller oil filter compared to my previous OCI w/ Synpower, I'm getting less to no valvetrain startup noise. I'm assuming its from a slightly thinner oil and the smaller, thimble filter.

My current 10w30 syn stash is (from thinnest to thickest @100*C):
Q-Torque
Q-Horsepower
Synpower
Maxlife Syn

The Q-Tq and Q-HP were free after rebates, so I'd say its an exceptional value for a GIII synthetic. The Valvoline will get summer use.

I noticed the same thing Surfstar.

QTorque Power quieted my engine more-so than current Amsoil ASL. But I'm not sure it's the QS oil. Because the ASL add-pack is more potent, I didn't add my usual half-bottle of VSOT with the Amsoil. So the VSOT may be the sound difference. I dunno!

I have used Q-Torque 5W20 and 10W40 in different app's. Q-HP is relatively new so I'm only finding _W30.

The QPower.com website shows both Q-HP and Q-Torque. MY suspicion is Q-HP may indeed be Shell's XHVI Ultra Helix baseoil at least in the 5W40 and 10W60 formulas. Q-Torque may be a different base resulting from some old contracts. (Johnny here said PP and QS was different base in the past.)

The Q-HP 5W40 meets more ACEA spec's than the QS 5W40 Euro and shows "pending" approvals on Porsche/MB/BMW/VW but the Euro spec may be old. The Q-HP 10W30 is not spec'd to A3/B3/B4 and the Euro 5W30 is.

I'm looking forward to more grades of Q-HP...bring it on !

Will I have golden horses following me around?

No, but you can stop at the golden arches for something to eat.
