There was a thread about how Valvoline's ATF is seemingly very universal. I believe it synthetic and a similar price.

Thanks. I was at the dealer buying T-IV last week, noticed all the Dex III was Coastal. Was googling around today and found the distributor. If Toyotas using Coastal for Dex III I thought just maybe this would be a good T-IV substitute.

Yeah thats ok. The main thing is an alternative to T-IV. Tranny's that run on T-IV don't take kindly to alternative fluids. At first they seem to do ok, but down the road you will see a thread from the same people with slipping, strange shifting, etc.

Coastal is where Toyota gets their Dex III, what got me started with the research.

Not a bad buy for $3.56/qt, but shipping would probably kill ya.

Check Amazon. Good oil/lubricant deals can be had there.

I know I just picked up a case of Accel (Warren) 5w20 motor oil from Amazon shipped to the door for $32. Sad when that's a good deal.

Didn't know they made a syn blend. I've been using their conventional product in a '97 corolla and have no complaints. Might give this syn a try for the winter.

Well, it may be OK with others, and the fluid itself may be an OK fluid. But to me, if it starts out by saying..."SYN ATF" on the web page, and the description of the fluid states that it's really a blend, then I'm not OK with it. It'd be just as easy to label the bottle, "SYN BLEND"...I mean, it ain't that hard!

I may buy some in the future if it turns up in stores in my area for a good deal but, it is just worded WRONG!
