Noticed the Tires on my GF's Mirage are getting short in the tread... according to my Slime branded Depth guage, around the 5/32-4mm range. they need to be replaced before next winter... the Current Kumho's ( Solus TA31) are discontinued, and only 2.5 years old..( though she does have a 40 mi daily Commute)
the problem is lack of choices in her size, (165/65 R14), and we're both broke Retail workers. I'm Leaning towards the new version of what she currently has ( Solus TA51) Discount tire ( location right in front of where we work) has them listed for $92/ea, Walmart and Amazon for $79ish... we paid around $65 for the old ones, which for the inflation rate, in the last 2 years, i guess ain't bad.

aside from the normal memorial day stuff, anyone know of any upcoming deals?

I'd go up a size to 175/65r14; it should be more common as it used to fit corollas back in the 90s.

These are $34, for example.

This.

There are many tires in your size 165/65-14 for under $50 each regular price, no sale needed :)

I have seen Arroyo tires on lots of cars, and they're only $41 each.

The best tire in your size seems to be the Radar Dimax 4 Season, but unfortunately, it is out of stock. The Kumho HA32 is also available in your size, but is outrageously expensive :(

agree about the Arroyos and specifically the Grand Sport A/S.

Priority Tire seems to have the best deals but only on their eBay page when you go to the listing there is a discounted price in green so for example these two are 35 to 40 a tire:

Cheap tires may be a false economy IMO... Falken Sincera SN250 A/S 175/65R14 are $324/set at TireRack - at 5/32" you still have some time so I'd save up the difference. But that may be easier said than done.

As for sales - might differ by region but I've never really seen meaningful "sales" unless the model is being discontinued. It's mainly timing the purchase with the spring and fall rebates.

i'd rather get something from a "known" brand than some Chinesium made up name off brand. I stopped buying Pirelli's when they got bought by a Chinese company. My personal last 3 purchases for my car, were Cooper, Cooper, and Michelin. and the Coopers were before the Goodyear Takeover. I've never had luck with Goodyear tires, and really hope they didn't mess up Cooper. ( and none of those offers tires in her size)

interestingly, it looks like her stock tire size, 165/65/14 is what goes on the front of a Can-am Spyder ( the 3 wheeled "motorcycle" that is clearly a snowmobile with wheels instead of skis and a track)

If you want name brand tires in the size 165/65-14:
Dunlop Enasave
Nexen AH5
Falken SN250A
Kumho TA51a
the Kumho HA32 I mentioned before. This is the only all-weather tire available in your size, but it is outrageously expensive!

and as i said Initially, leaning towards the Kumho TA51's... I had Kumho's on my old Sonata, they were fantastic, and she's currently on a set of Kumho TA31's that have handled 2 winters fantastically. ( but are now discontinued)
have to discuss with her, and look at DT's price match, since they are currently about $15/tire cheaper at Walmart... or she could just get them at Walmart... they change her oil....

Kumho Solus TA51a are decent, but the Falken Sincera SN250 A/S tested better (yet are in the same price range):

I have good news :D

Vredestein's Quatrac 5 is available in the size 165/65-14 on Tire Rack. They will ship to DT.

This is a name-brand all-weather tire from the ones who invented the category. It is easily the best tire available in your size.

Apparently, Kumho only sells the 14 inch sizes of the HA32 in Canada, not the US. That's why they're so expensive and limited down here. But since the Quatrac 5 is available, that is the best choice.
