...in diesel antigels since they reformulated them to comply with ULSD requirements??

I had at least a double dose of Howe's diesel treat/antigel and almost got in trouble with my filter waxing...(it was bad enough I was losing pressure) to the IP. And this was at around +5*F.

I found a place that sells LSD treated to -5*F...but even that seem quite "warm" to me.

I am now running CRC's diesel additives with what appears to be better results...

Just wondering if anyone else was noticing either a problem with the additives or the ULSD fuel??

Well, last week most of the school districts around southwest PA had to cancel classes when for 3 days we were in -20 wind chills with -5 air temps. The mechanics directly said with the lack of the ability to winterize the fuel,they simply can't get the vehicles to start up. He said the problem only occured after the forced conversion to ULSD.

Drive a VW TDI every day here in Iowa. Been as low as -11F a few mornings, and have not had any troubles getting her fired up. It was -5 this morning. I only use a regular dose of Power Service with ULSD and 2% bio.

If something is not working for you, use a different brand.

Double dosing a product does not improve its performance. And, in some situations, might actually be causing the problem.

For example, when the antifreeze(100%) froze one cold morning, I needed to add WATER to lower the freezing point.

You need to add diesel to your antigel to make it work. You risk gelling the antigel if there isn't enough fuel present!

And, of course, the winter blend of D2 may not have been in your tank. In many locations, distributors have a special winter blend that is often D1. With the warmer winter we seemed to be having, the thinner blend may not have made it to your area.

Doesn't antifreeze have a lower freezing point than water?

Howe's is supposed to be OK to over treat...I have had it in temps to -35 and it stayed liquid before. According to their bottle, I should have been protected to around -35*F...

The main problem with #2 ULSD is the fact there is a shortage of ULS Kero (#1 ULSD) to blend with it. And LSD is becoming scarce to find locally. There is no real "winterized" blends of ULSD around here...because of the shortage.

The local stations are basically having OTC antigel added at the rack. The local station I found has their fuel down to -5*F supposedly.

I'm glad I'm not the only one...

Some antigels are ok to over dose...PS and Howe's both state that on their bottles. And based on the dose I had, I should have been protected to around -35*F (based on Howe's dosage instructions)...

I am going to change to Stanadyne when I get a local rep.
