I don't know if this is happening elsewhere, but in Ontario at least, there were several Sunoco stations that had 'Mac's' stores attached to them.
Recently, these stores and stations were renovated, and have now become Mac's gas stations, with shiny new pumps with the Mac's logo on them and everything.
I'm assuming that this came about as a part of the takeover of Petro-Canada by Suncor. Suncor owns the rights to the Sunoco name in Canada, and runs Sunoco stations. For the sake of competition, it had to sell some stations. It seems like Mac's has bought them, and gotten into the gas selling business.
Now, I wonder WHO supplies gas for these stations - I'm assuming it is still Suncor/Petro-Canada. Interesting to see if they will offer a better price than other stations....
