Anyone here own a MAYTAG product?

Hello and does anyone here own a Maytag dishwasher and or dryer and washer? A lil trivia question also: what is a Maytag dishwasher's first number, and what is a washing machines and clothes dryer's first number? I recently had a heck of a time finding both belts for my fathers 1967 gas dryer thats in my real fathers house. I ended up going 24 miles away to a local and older couple owned Maytag store and bought a "belt kit" that has both belts. Only cost $31.74 so that was great. Next time I go to the real fathers place I will take those up to him as he found a few gates belts that will make do for now. When did Maytag parts get so hard to find? Also does anyone know who the actor who played the Maytag man was, and what his dogs name was?

We have a top loading energy star washer and electric dryer by MAYTAG that were purchased at LOWES for under $600 . They're almost 2 years old and no issues as of yet . We do 2 to 3 medium loads a week . If you want the model numbers I'll provide them .

No, and thanks for the reply Odie. My fathers washer and dryer are 1967(dryer and 1974ish the washer). His dishwasher and gas stove and wall oven are early 70's still goin strong. Ok guys, the Maytag basset hound's name was NEWTON for Newton Iowa.

I own 1988 Maytag washer, dryer and dishwasher, Dishwasher needed a new pump 4 years ago, and Maytag wanted $250 for it. I found a used appliance place and paid $15 for a used one, and it still works fine. It also need a new door gasket as the OEM one was hard as rock from age. Dryer needed a new idler wheel in 1995, that cost $12 and I put in in myself. Washer has not needed any repairs yet, but has started to leak a little grease from the transmission output seal. SO far I just wipe it off every two years when it starts to appear. Maytag parts are fully available, but they are very costly (they want to sell you a new unit.) My dishwasher racks have started to rust, and they are $250 for replacement. If I run across a used rack I will buy it, but it only cosmetic and doesn't not bother me..

Yeah, my father used to install and repair MAYTAG appliances. Ok, gentlemen; since knows the belt questions; I will answer them myself. If the belts first number is a 3, you have a dryer belt, if its a 2 you have a washer belt, if its a 6 you have a dishwasher.

We have a couple Maytag appliances at the lake house (microwave and oven). While they're ok, I don't care for the quality now that Whirlpool has taken over. I don't think I'd purchase a new one.

Jesse White was the original Maytag man and was replaced by Gordon Jump somewhere around the late 1980's or very early 90's.

I lived just outside of Newton for years and did some consulting for Maytag. I had the chance to meet both Jesse White and Gordon Jump when they came to Newton. A group of us had coffee one morning with Gordon Jump when he was in town, and I met Jesse White at the headquarters, probably around 1980 or 81.

I just brought a Maytag model 92 back to life!

Aside from that, the family Neptunes are OK except for the known issues (mildew tendencies w/ the front loader, etc).

I have a Maytag washer that I bought about 4 years ago. I died just a week after going out of warranty. Argued with Maytag for a week over it, since I had been told I had the extended warranty on it when I bought it. Even though the store was called the Maytag store it didn't matter when it sold out to the dealer in town. He and Maytag said that what I had was a store warranty so he didn't have to honor it. Maytag said that all the stores are independent no matter what they have on the store for a name. Finally got them to pay for parts and me for labor. When they came out they fixed everything and I wasn't given any bill. Been OK since then but I have a little reservation about buying from them in the future.

my mom has a stainless steel maytag dish washer, about 15-20 old still going. does any one remember the FIRST maytag repairman Jessie White? he did a lot of early TV also
