I saw an ad on Kijiji for a few boxes of old Commodore 64 and VIC-20 stuff that was being given away, so I replied to it. I figured it was going to be just a small box with nothing really useful, but I was wrong. I got 7 boxes of various bits and pieces, such as:

1 breadbox style C64 with an out of memory error
1 C64c model which works fine
2 older model VIC-20's, both seem to work
1 newer VIC-20 which doesn't seem to do anything
3 Datasette drives
2 1541 floppy drives, both dead
1 1541-II drive, works fine
1 1702 monitor, works fine
8 or more joysticks
1 1351 mouse
2 paddle controllers (they look like the old Atari 2600 paddles)
Composite cable to connect the VIC to the monitor, and a luma/chroma cable for the C64
All AC adapters I need
30 or more floppy disks, some store bought, some copied (haven't counted them all)
An imcomplete GEOS disk set
2 VIC-20 Gorf game cartridges
A few data casettes
Various manuals and a few Commodore-related magazines

I am probably forgetting a few things. The datasettes and the floppy disks are old and some of them aren't working too good, or at all. I think the head in the Datasette drives could stand to be cleaned, and the 1541 could probably use a cleaning and realignment too, but for now I'll just leave them as they are. I wonder what a collection like this would go for on eBay, not that I plan on selling it though.

I've got my old Amiga 500 with 1!mb of ram and a second floppy drive and all the software in a garbage bag with some desiccant waiting for it to be worth thousands!
5 years ago I put it together and it still worked, so it might be OK for a few more decades.

Wow. I am jealous. I had a Commodore 64 in my younger days and it was pretty amazing what all it could do with what little it had (by today's standards). I found it pretty easy to use and wish I hadn't thrown it away years ago. I still remember the old "Load "*",8,1" lol. Good find.

I like the emulator running inside of windows. The real thing was so dog slow but decent games on the C64. The vic20 was not my cup of tea. However it introduced me to programming.
