Anyone have experience with overactive Adrenals?

Maybe you have a deficiency in essential fatty acids particularly an omega 3 called EPA ?

Some people have said that fish oil helped their anxiety.

Google it.

I'm on an prescription vitamin/mineral/essential acid supplement that I have to take 3 times a day with food and it seems to have helped a little. I have tried all sorts of things that I could find with Googling this problem.

I will check into the fish-oils though... Haven't tried that I don't think, unless it's included in this supplement I'm on.

I just googled that... Very interesting stuff. I will take this up with my Naturopath and MD.

I went through something similar about 15 years ago. My regular doc wasn't sure about the cause, and a co-worker suggested I see her naturopath. The ND had me do an at home saliva test where I had to take saliva samples several times a day. Turns out my adrenals were not functioning correctly ( can't remember the actual diagnosis ) and they started me taking some capsules.

Again, this was 15 years ago, so I don't remember the specifics about the capsules, but I do remember that they said "adrenal support" on the bottle. I took a couple of bottles over a few months and all has been well since then.

hate2work,

I think I'm about to have that same saliva test done multiple times per day as she was talking about it.

If there is some "Adrenal Support" supplement I can take to fix this I would pay an arm/leg for it at this point because I'm so tired physically/mentally of dealing with it and want my old life back.

Thanks for the info!

Have you had a sleep study done? Not that it's necessarily related, but you haven't, it's one avenue to explore.

Yes I spent 2 nights in a sleep clinic to rule out sleep apnea because my dad has that. I'm fine and all checks out.

I have cut all things out of my diet like Alcohol, diet and regular pop, fast food, 99% of the caffeine I used to consume.

I also started eating a lot of raw vegetables/fruits and non-processed meats/cheese.

I also am taking a clinically prescribed mutli-vitamin with minerals and essential acids to ensure my body has all the building blocks it needs.

I try to exercise as much as possible, but this is difficult with my lethargy and work schedule. I do fit in as much as possible and I'm averaging about 5 hours a week.

Keep squeaking; the wheel eventually gets grease. Things like this should not suddenly happen. As long as your genetic code stays the same you should feel about the same.

What factors might have changed over the past year?
Is food being digested and absorbed properly?

That's of course a faulty claim. Many genetically rooted conditions and diseases show up at some point during a person's life without any clue before that time.

Have you considered finding a psychologist and trying hypnotherapy?

Like a couple of people have suggested, it may be more than physical causes. Not calling you crazy or anything, but something has to be making you feel anxious.

Given the fact that the symptoms manifest themselves at the same time each day, that would point more to a physical cause than a psychological one. For instance, maybe when he sleeps the adrenaline builds up, and is released when he gets up and then dissipates after several hours, when he again feels normal. I think if this was psychological, it would come on any time of day rather than within a very predictable time frame.

I'm not a doctor, and I don't play one on TV, so the above could be completely off base

I'm always on that road, but unfortunately I haven't found the destination as of yet and I'm trying other things to help get me there. I haven't given up on this I'm just trying everything I can all at once to try and get rid of this problem as quickly as it came because I can feel my system getting run-down as a result.

That is why I posted it here so I could find out other options to try if the Naturopath route doesn't work. And no offense taken, just because one visits a "Shrink" doesn't make them crazy or mentally unstable IMO. The movies do a good job of making us think this way however.

My ND & MD think this is the case. But they don't think it's buidling up in the system over night. This hormone is naturally higher in our blood streams in the morning than it is in the afternoon and almost completely gone at night. The Docs think that my levels are just way higher than they should be and so I'm feeling the crazy effects of it. This is why the MD is trying to treat me with an SNRI and the ND is trying to fix me a diet rich in foods that nourish the Adrenals and help them to repair and get back on track. She is also got me on a prescription Vitamin/Mineral/Acid supplement to help this along for now and then will suggest other herbs/supplements to help the adrenals further.

+1. however my job tends to destroy most of my faith in humanity.

I've had some symtoms ever since I took a job 3 years ago that was very stressfull, and the "factory" was quite unorganized and jumped from project to project. Rushed to setup for one build and often as I got ready to start the build another project often became high priority. So I'd have to rush to clean up my work area and put away the parts and jigs for the project that got moved down the list and then rush to setup the new build. To top it off after wasting a half day setting up and tearing down a project I didn't even work on they still wanted a full days worth of production on the new project!

This + the fact My wife and I were on our way to having trouble really took a toll on me. To the point I genuinely felt sick. And seen a doctor about once a month. Eventually I was fired due to missing work even though I was never warned about missing days and had doctors notes for all but the last mis. It was on a weekend and my doctor wasn't in. There's no 24H clinics in this town and I'm not going to the ER to dole out $1000 for them to run the same tests my GP like already has again.

Fast forward a bit. Latter I found a much less stressfull job but I still had symptoms but they had eased to the point I could go out of the house to do something besides work. Take my family out shopping or out to eat. Yet something was still bothering me some. My wife told me "we need to talk". She swears she didn't cross the line but had been talking to someone. We both realized after the talk we were both at fault for where things had lead. She had some sort of hormone imbalance after our son was born and didn't pay me the attention I thought she should have so she got the same in return. For what its worth she seemed to pick the absolut worst days to try to give me any attention. Days that I felt worn down from work and then came home and worked until the sun went down and she had likely said something snippy just a few hours eailier.

A bit later. We've had several talks. Go out often. Spend plenty of snuggle time. I'm currently Laid off and looking for work so I really shouldn't feel stressed. Yet I still have days something is up. I'll have a funny feeling and rarely want to eat. Yet its nowhere near what it was like 2+ years ago. I'm unsure what it is but I'd sure like it GONE. I'd lost 25+lbs right after all this and unlike some those 25lbs were ones I needed! Those and possibly 5 more. I'm not a runt but I sure felt better 4 years ago when I was 185. Since feeling somewhat better I've gained a few back.

I hadn't really paid attention to a pattern until I read this. Its always about 30min after waking and by afternoon has eased to more or less normal feelings.

I've seen the saliva test strips used on mythbusters any idea what all they check and where might one get some? My wife is a certified pharmacy tech perhaps I should ask. Maybe I could do a week of testing and log the result and show my doctor.

And I thought I had a stressful job. For years I put up with what is my former job and lately had reached a point where I would have constant freak-outs about deadlines. It had started affecting whatever personal life I had left - the anxiety would start at 6 am until 9 pm when I would stop working but then it would resume at about 11 pm when it was time to go to bed.

I sure am glad to have quit it even though the company wants me back. The wife says we need the money but I don't think my sanity is worth it. Given that they have reduced the department by 60% with the same amount of work left (it started with layoffs but then continued with people burning out and quitting), I think I will not go back.

So my anxiety was work related and changing the employment to become underemployed has helped.

I thought it might be my job, but then realized that I have the feeling no matter what I'm doing, on holidays or just watching TV or reading.

My job also has a very flexible schedule that allows me to work most times when I feel like it. Only certain times I'm confined to a schedule I must keep.

I find my job very demanding, but I wouldn't consider it overly stressful. It has it's moments but it's like night/day difference compared to some of the jobs I have worked.

I have learned to cope with it pretty well.

Once the anxiety passes in the afternoon I feel like I normally do for the most part and almost dread having to go to bed to start all over again.

Brother All I can say I feel your pain... err well whatever you wish to call it. To me its been nerviousness (anxious) and at times its bad enough to make me nauseous. A few times at work (the bad jod) I had to go outside and gag/dryheave. By afternoon I always feel normal.

Lately its eased A LOT. To the point I rarely feel sick just uneasy about something. Although I have no idea what. At its worst latley I don't feel like doing much anything or eating. I almost never have the energy to do simple chores.

BTW I live in a small town and have never heard of a Naturopath. Details please. anyone. I think I have an idea.

I think the sh@tty job brought it on but even since being out of that situation I still have spells. Milder and less often. Its an everyday thing at least in its mildest case. But sometimes when I plan a day out with family we start getting ready and it starts building. One Saturday we had gotten ready to go fleamarket, mall shopping, and out to eat a few towns over. Less than 10 miles down the road I had a weird feeling and cold sweats too nervious to continue had to turn back home and really tell them SORRY! I'm not up to it today.
