I picked up a 2012 Volvo XC60 R-Design T6 for my lot inventory this weekend. It has a transversely mounted 3.0 Inline 6 turbo. 325hp/350ish torque if I remember right. Design and quality is good(hands down better than Land Rover/Jaguar) but I'm sure they all have their mechanical issues...although I don't think anything can get much worse than JLR 5.0 V8s.
I am very impressed with the car but I already have a buyer - plus I'm not a fan of owning older cars personally. Apparently they stopped making the 3.0 I6 around 2016 and replaced them with a T5 2.0T/tuned 2.0T badged as T6. They dropped T6 all together with their current line.
My question is: Are the T5s any good power/performance wise? Numbers on paper seems about average compared to the mercedes/audi/bmw non-performance equivalent. The T8 plug in "polestar engineered" seems very inticing but pushing $70k MSRP and are fairly hard to come by used.
Are T5 engines any good? Are there any aftermarket support for the 2.0T? This XC60 is good enough to make me buy a Volvo.
