Anyone get a firestone lifetime alignment?

I got.one like 10 years ago, they aligned it once, then after that they always refused saying something was out of whack. Took it to a well known independent shop and the guy aligned even though one of the components had a tad amount of play, but nothing he was concerned about. He was like it's okay we account for this. Older gentleman that that worked on cars his whole life until he retired. I wonder if I went back if they would still have me in the computer.

I'm guessing many Firestone Auto Care service advisors are like, I'm making no money on this free work and probably wont upsell him anything, I'll have a mechanic pull it in who's been instructed to quickly DQ it and not tie the rack up on a no money job.

A significant number of modern cars have no front adjustment other than toe anyway. They call it a "toe and go" in the biz.
Mine you can adjust everything. That was one of the things they were trying to rip me off on. The guy didn't know what he was doing and had the alignment so far out of whack, that they said it needed a caster/camber kit. They claimed the kit had longer bolts than what were already on the truck. Either that or they said they had none and needed them. I can't remember.

I sprung for the lifetime alignment at Wheel Works (a Firestone company) when I got the 1st set of tires for our 2006 TSX. I've aligned it with every set of tires and once in between sets ever since.

I got the lifetime alignment for our 2013 GS350 F Sport with the freakin' expensive Michelin Pilot Sport summer rubber.

I think it was like $20 more than the one time alignment price, or perhaps I sniveled and got a break?

I bought the lifetime alignment back years ago and I regret it. Firestone makes every excuse to not align the vehicle and when they do, it's not done right. I took my Jeep in to three different shops and none of them could center the steering wheel correctly. Eventually I just gave up, learned, and started doing the alignments myself.

Yep. I believe it was $169 for an alignment and like $20 more for the lifetime one. Total rip off. The independent shop I brought it to was $79.

When I moved here the firestone shop was pretty good. I bought a couple rounds of tires there. I like firestone tires.

Then the manager changed. I brought a flat repair in and the broke the TPMS. They tried to tell me it showed up that way - that there were pieces just floating around inside the rim. I said "no, you broke the bead too close to the stem and broke it". Dear in headlights.

So I would say it likely depends on the store. If you found a good one, for sure keep going.

Glad I'm not the only one. I think they hire techs that don't know what they're doing. Or the turnaround is so high nobody stays around long enough to be trained

I have the lifetime alignment on my Prius and have gotten it aligned over 20 times. With that said, quality of work is a complete hit/miss.

Idk, after all that I just said I'll be extra careful not to hit anything for the next few years to make up for this $230 alignment loss. I'm not spending $1000 bucks on a set of tires and then paying for a bad alignment. The $79 alignment just seemed much more reasonable in my eyes that even if I needed one every couple years oh well. I honestly totally forgot about that lifetime alignment I got until now. Just the decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

Normally there is still a bit of adjustment possible via the strut to knuckle bolts and the top, strut mount, or offset bolts/washers/bushings, subframe adjustment, prying with bolts loose, and more. Of course if there is collision damage, it could need some new parts or a bigger hammer to fix. In other words there are adjustments possible, but shops don't want to do more labor or have a grunt doing it that doesn't know what to do.

One time I had problems after was when that old timer didn't tighten the caster camber bolts up enough and it would pop down by my feet if I hit the brakes good with the trailer hooked up. Didn't do it empty.

A good friend of mine has bought them for a few of his vehicles. They always come up with something that needs replaced, why they can’t do it, etc.

A few times he’s had to take it back because it was worse then how he brought it in.

The old "adjustable cam bolt requirement" scam for only $119 extra. Happened to me 3 decades ago and I walked away. I have the impression that mechanics work at Firestone cause they can't get a job at a real shop. I'm sure there might be a few competent managers at Firestone shops, but very rare.

They wanted one ball joint replaced for a cool $800 😬
