Came across a web page that discussed cheese on toast, a British favorite.

Cheese on toast is different from a grilled cheese. The significant difference is a key ingredient of cheese on toast is Worcestershire sauce.

From the web-page:

It’s basically an open-faced British version of grilled cheese, but with a generous amount of Worcestershire sauce thrown into the mix.

Cheese on toast has been an after-school staple snack for kids (and a post-pub miracle midnight munchie cure for adults) in the United Kingdom for decades, if not longer! This three-ingredient sandwich alternative is not only quick and easy to make, but also it’s gooey, flavorful, and comforting all in one hit. Needless to say, I’ve eaten a lot of cheese on toast in my lifetime, and I don’t intend to stop any time soon.

Sure, Toasted Cheese Sandwich. 😛
Anyway YES!
I have had cheese on toast and made a variety of different types of cheesy toast.
French Bread Pizza for example or Garlic & EVOO on Italian Bread with Mozzarella or
Thick Sliced Texas Toast with American Cheese.

"...a web page that discussed cheese on toast..."
Tell me they engage in endless "hot vs cold" debates...

By far, the #1 favorite lunch of Mrs. Kira.
Muenster, cheddar or jacks on the up side of store-baked French bread....with avocado.

I put cheese on my toast many times and actually had a cheese sandwich as a lunch snack at work yesterday. My mom used to make us cheese sandwiches at times too. I love a good granary bread with a spreadable cheese.

Had cheese on toast for breakfast this morning...and many mornings. I put a very light layer of butter down on 100% whole grain wheat, then light garlic salt. Toast that about 4 minutes in an old school horizontal toaster, put the cheese of the day on top (today was Colby-jack, and toast until melted. I'll have to try adding the W-sauce ;-)

Cheese on toast brings me back to my childhood when my mom used to make it for me.
I still enjoy eating cheese on toast, and I don't plan to stop anytime soon!

In grade school, the cooks used to make tuna dogs.
Basically buns with Tuna salad and topped with cheese and baked until crisp.
Normally served with tomato soup. Those were one of my favorite lunches.

Not being a smart a$$ but what’s the difference between this and a grilled cheese something I’m not understanding
Open face + “worstechire “ (lol)

I toast open face cheese then put a sunny side egg in there, prefer mayo over Worcestershire

Like antique condensed tomato soup with milk or cream inside but rarely have it.
Aldi occasionally has tomato bisque, great stuff but sadly they rarely have it for long

Considering it’s Brit’s this cheese toast is likely a luxury for the days they don’t eat bean toast
