anybody use Lock'n Stitch kit to pin a crack in cast iron

I did a cracked engine block, years ago. It had about a 6" crack along a water jacket.
Nothing fancy like that website.

Just drilled and tapped, then installed 1/4" bolts. Each over-lapping the previous and installed with Loctite.
3/8" bolt on each end, so it would get all the crack covered. Shear off excess bolt and smooth up with a grinding wheel.
It worked fine, but maybe I just lucked out, because it was not in a combustion area.

We always brazed cast iron engine blocks. But not on stress areas.
