Anybody own a new VW Jetta?

It is listed as a belt and is only 53.00.

You might be thinking of the 2.0 turbo.

It looks the same...just has a plastic intake manifold now.

Yeah, they did a little bit of tweaking to improve MPG just a tad, but it is essentially the same engine that they offered 20 years ago. Even the HP figure is still the same (115).

No, it still looks like a black plastic belt cover on the side.

Never mind the timing belt. If anything, it looks harder to do the plugs on than the old aluminum intake. Maybe not because you just unplug the throttle body instead of working with the throttle cable.

Thanks for everyone's input. Now I am a bit more confused lol. Guess a test drive is in order.

They do, but the Octavia is a bit overpriced and I'm not too big on the Fabia. The Superb and Yeti are out of my range to be honest.

What else has to be replaced with that belt? Usually a roller, tensioner and water pump, plus several one-time use bolts. On my TDi it's like a $300 kit of parts (and like $250 worth of tools).

my neice just bought a jetta, when she went to take delivery of her car they said ummm.. we have a problem, we filled your diesel car with gas but the mechanics are draining the tank now.
needless to say she refused to take the car and after some back and forth they gave her a different one. her initial impression is she loves the car. time will tell if it hold up well or not.
its brand new, im not sure if its a 12 or 13.

Now that's funny! I could believe a VW dealer mistakenly filling a diesel car with gas, but doing it the other way? They must be really selling the TDi's these days...

When I bought a new Golf TDI in 2003 I asked the salesman twice to ensure their staff paid attention to this important detail. They put the correct fuel in but "paid" me back by stuffing the glove down the filler neck. When I took the car to another VW dealer (Miramar VW in San Diego) to find out why the tank would not fill properly they got into an accident while driving through a neighboring parking lot, causing $3k of damage to the rear axle and bodywork. They refused to repair it, instead sent it to the cheapest body shop in town. I ended up with a wonky-handling car with only 5,000 miles on it and still couldn't fill the tank.

if the U.S. spec'd jetta is for sale in Kuwait, it is not a very good value. i would suggest looking elsewhere.
