Nope , no alcohol in 30+ years . Doesn't solve anything . Only alcohol in the house is mouthwash , rubbing alcohol and hand sanitizer .

But if you are loaded enough, you don't care about them anymore.

That's why the Homer alcohol cartoon posted above makes sense.

Yeah, it doesn't stop people from looking for them at the bottom of a bottle.

If you're drinking to celebrate, I think that's okay. If you're drinking to drown your sorrows, that's a big problem.

I know someone who was in the wholesale liquor distribution business.

He told me that in bad times, business was usually good for him.

But the current situation, with bars and restaurants shut down, would probably be an exception to that.

Sorry to hear that. Knew of a guy like that after the market collapsed back in 2009. He was dead a year later. Drank himself to death. Had a company that did work on new construction, once construction stopped, his business died and he hit the bottle. He was only in his 40's.

He was ruined literally overnight. His restaurant's single biggest money-maker (every year for 15+ years) was March Madness...the place was PACKED every night there were games. That was cancelled...the governor ordered all restaurants to close, he is sitting on $45,000+ worth of beer he can't sell.
And, he did it a few weeks ago. He lost his business, his life's work, his life savings, and his life to the shutdown.

I tell people this ’illness’ made millions of people go from living the America Dream...... to living the American Nightmare and they think I’m kidding around.

2021 will get bad for many in the USA.

Sorry to hear about the people you know ending their life.

Well it's no joke, all you have to is look at the total number of dead. It way higher than what it would normally be and that's not attributed to this illness. Probably a mixture of stuff including those that don't end up going to the hospital due to fear.

But it's not the first time it's happened. When the market collapsed back in 2008, run into a plumber that use to have a company that installed plumbing in new construction, he was just doing a small side job compared to that for me. Company went under. I heard a year or two later he basically drank himself to death. Tried to sell me a refrigerator once and told me the freezer worked great because it kept his Jack cold. Looked up the obit, but it basically didn't mention that he drank to death, just said he died at home.

I’ll have a sip of beer or wine every year or so as a reminder of why I never drank. I just never liked the taste of any alcoholic beverage.

I completely stopped drinking a couple of months ago just for a change of scenery. I've done it before for a few months and then introduced beer again. I do it periodically, I think it's likely healthier.

Every great once in a while i'll have a beer or a Tangueray and tonic, but it's been a few weeks for either. My german shepard loves beer so I buy him a sixer every couple of weeks.

I'll have a beer or two socially. But since we can't really go out at the moment and gatherings have been few and far between, I really haven't had any alcohol. I like the taste of beer, do not like being drunk. But my stomach does not like beer any more -- cannot burp.
