any thoughts on block/finish wood planes

in my needs was considering a Affordable finish wood plane like a Irwin Record 9/34 inch bench plane,any recommendations ?

It would help if you could provide a link, I’m not familiar with the modern iteration. I only know the antique Record planes.

It would help even more if I knew your intended use, as well as your experience with hand planes.

More important than the maker of the plane, is your ability to flatten the sole and get a good sharp edge on the iron.

Go online and find some well kept Stanley Bailey or Bedrock planes.

Went to Menards and bought a Irwin Plane, works good after a few adjustments.

I found some really nice Stanley Bailey planes at antique stores and flea markets. If you have the time, I’d start with that.
