Any riders wear deerskin gloves?

I ordered some Aerostich insulated deerskin gloves for general purpose use during the winter (driving, errands, etc). I don't ride, obviously. Two questions:

1. Are these gloves supposed to be a very snug fit? I measured my hand and ordered a 1/2 size larger per their recommendation (due to the Thinsulate). My thumb is definitely touching the very end and feels restricted, as does my index finger.

2. How much stretch can I expect from the leather? I can bend my fingers and thumb but all the leather gloves I've owned in the past have been much thinner and not aimed at motorcycle riders.


My gut is telling me to exchange these for a pair that's a half-size larger but I have zero experience with this kind of gear.

I have a pair of deerskin gloves that are about 6 years old, no noticeable stretch.

I have a pair of Aerostich noninsulated deer skin gloves that I use on the motorcycle, first day it took about five minutes to get them on, by the sixth day they felt like a second skin only gloves I wear on the bike and I have about eight pairs of leather gloves.

I have Kangaroo and Stingray in my gloves and now deerskin. Wow so many options.

Generally, good Motorcycle gloves are intended to fit snug. If they fit like a second skin, it gives you better feel for the controls, and what the bike is doing.

With that in mind, they generally will fit more snug than a generic fashion glove of the same 'size'.

My current riding gloves are Kangaroo, and offer excellent feel and protection. Over the last couple of years they haven't stretched at all, which is a good thing.

Aerostitch is known for good quality, so I doubt their gloves will stretch much at all either.

Riding gloves are generally pretty snug, and I've found that most break in a bit after getting rained on the first time. I love my Lee Parks Design deer/elk gloves.

Exchange them. You don't want the stitching in the insulating liner to give way.

That's what I ended up doing. Went up another half-size and the fitment is now excellent. I am a huge fan of these gloves -- should be great for this nasty winter we've been having.
