Any recommendations for ATF +4

As part of my project to install Auto Meter gauges into my 300M, I am replacing my stock trans pan with one modified with a drain plug, and a temperature sender.

Even though I only have ~ 10k miles on the ATF+4 and filter in the transmission, I am going to replace the fluid & filter when I drop the pan. Do you guys have any possible recommendations for other ATF's other then ATF +4? I know this has recently been released to the aftermarket, but I want to see if there is a really good synthetic replacement.

Also, there has been some conjecture that ATF +4 is at least semi-synthetic, or fully synthetic. Can anyone shed some light on this??

I recently did a fluid change on my 2001 Neon, ATF +4 is the recommended fluid.
The only one I found that claimed it met spec. was the Redline synthetic.
I used ATF+4 from Chrysler at about 7 bucks CAN$ per liter...much cheaper than the Redline.
I believe the ATF+4 is a synthetic blend....with significant synthetic content.

Until the aftermarket ATF+4s start hitting the shelves, your only recourse is to buy ATF+4 from the dealer.

I'm using Aamco (ExxonMobil) ATF+3 in my 99 300M and with over 5000 miles on it I've seen absolutely no difference in performance or shift quality. The friction modification properties of ATF+3 and ATF+4 are the same. The only advantage to ATF+4 is a longer service life. In other words, if you use ATF+3 you'll have to change it more often. If I stick with the ATF+3 I plan to change it once a year.
