this one is a 2012, and yes, it's the 3.5l V6, it has the Factory towing pkg(Wiring Harness, Oil Cooler, Class III Receiver hitch, possibly trailer sway control..) and it's rated for up to 5k Lbs of Braked trailer. (his is 2k lbs non-braked)

and BTW aquariuscsm, if it were an escape, the model with the towing pkg, comes with the 2.0l eco-boost (when i looked it up last, i think it was rated for 3k lbs?)

I told him to just wait and see, or get go over and get a similar model for a test drive, and bring it back here, hook up to it, and see if the lights work, etc.
but no, he's gonna throw more $$ at a problem that may not even exist, and have the trailer converted to LED's.... Oi vey!
(as soon as he found out the Submersible LED kits were around $50, he started talking about taking it to a local truck & trailer store, and having them do it.)
trying to keep my mouth shut...

Trailer lighting is incredibly easy to swap. You can buy those kits for very cheap and change the lamps in less than an hour, and re-wire the whole thing in a short afternoon. He won't need to do it, but if he prefers the LEDs, that's something else entirely.

Figured out why the salesman was so gung-ho to get the sale done by the end of August... Ohio sales Tax goes up on Sept 1.
The state rate is going up from 5.5% to 5.75%, then each county/locality has their own local additions, so my county goes from 6.5% to 6.75%

so on the $25,000 price of the explorer, from $1,625 to $1,687.50, a Difference of $62.50

the biggest problem with this new generation explorer is it is the absolutely ugliest product on sale today, rivaling the aztek in my opinion.

To each his own tastes when it comes to vehicle styling.

I liked the aztek.. freind of mine has one. absolutely underrated vehicle.

The Front end always reminded me of a capybara
