Certainly a random question here. I moved to Cincinnati 6 months ago. Hamilton county is my resident county. Ive taken the CCW class and im awaiting my appointment with the sheriffs department. I have a lifetime Indiana LTCH which is valid for life and accepted in Indiana regardless of where one lives as long as the address is correct. My question is since Ohio has reciprocity with Indiana could/would it be valid in Ohio? I have NOT carried in Ohio with my Indiana LTCH since moving here, I ask this question out of curiosity, as I do NOT plan on carrying here until I get my Ohio CCW.

When I changed my address on the Indiana LTCH I figured it would be invalid, but when I spoke with the Indiana state police LTCH representative he told me it is valid for life unless it is revoked or suspended. I asked him about states that accept Indiana LTCH and he said that will be according to the prospective states local laws and descrestion of the officers.

I would not trust the "advice" or "discretion" of any police officer.

I carry concealed in my home state as an agent of the court. I do not have a permit; but I also carry a copy of the statute granting me that authority.

The top floor of my local county courthouse is a law library, free and open to the public. You need either a conversation with an attorney or reference to statute. I'm not willing to base my defense in a court of law on any "officer's" word, and I daresay you should not either.

I do applaud your efforts to be legal and exercise your rights.

This is not a question for strangers on an Internet forum. Contact the sheriff's dept via email or written letter so you have something in writing.

I'm over that way often. My friends live in Wilder. Thru research I found that the Indiana LTCH is valid in Ohio for Ohio residents. I'm still going to get my Ohio CCW as I have already taken the course.. only step left is to visit the Sheriff department.

The biggest reason I hate Ohio is that the gun buster signs hold the weight of the law there but in Kentucky you can just laugh at them they mean nothing if you are legally able to carry at the place.

They are especially funny at places that are physically in Kentucky like the Goodwill but they quote Ohio code on their no gun signs.

Also you are required to notify officers that you are carrying in Ohio for any official interaction
