Stuff that daddy's influence nonsense. The same lie over and over again, with nothing to back it. Both Barnes and Staudt have denied any influence. OK, Barnes has changed his story, but he isn't under oath this year.

Oh, and if he didn't have a powerful daddy to get him out, just how did Clinton avoid being drafted???????????

College deferrment as I recall, just like a few million other baby boomers. Even so, it didn't take a whole lot of pull, my uncle got an Army Reserve slot then because my grandmother knew somebody who knew somebody.

I knew that. Went to college for 6 years for a 4 year degree. I only raised it to display that a double standard is at work once again. People harping on Clinton for avoiding the draft seem to be willing to give Cheney a free pass on the same issue.

No double standard when Cheney went about it legally as did many others.

Johnny0:

The so called "pardon" in the referenced site was a general, blanket order of Carter to bring an end to all the loose strings left over from the Viet Nam era. It was primarily to allow those who had moved to Canada to avoid draft induction to return home to the USA without fearing prosecution. As I recall, no individuals were named or identified.

It involved tens of thousands of people, if not more. Your rabble site reference makes it sound like Clinton was being tracked down like Bonnie and Clyde. What a laugh.

Personally, I think all these so called issues are irrelevant at this time. They are designed to be a "red herring" to take people off the real issues of a quagmire war, poor economy, and massive wealth transfer underway.

Don't take the bait!

Hogwash

Cheney gave an explaination. 12 years later, Clinton still hasn't said how, but Dan Rather ignored it.

Still no explanation from Bush as to why he missed the physical.

OK, I have made my point, and you have made yours. I have nothing more to offer.

Cheers!

"Still no explanation from Bush as to why he missed the physical."

He was tired of flying and playing Intercepter pilot. He had better things to do. Personally it has to eat at him looking at the reserves/guard he is ordering to combat who have better things to do.

JMHO.

We all know that Clinton was to busy socializing and visiting the Soviet Union during the time in question.

Now this is interesting. A professor at Utah State University has studied the CBS sourced documents and was about to conclude they are original and not forged. The Boston Globe were falling over themselves to rush into print.

But then, along came the bloggers and they found that the good professor had left evidence on his server that he was forging his evidence!

Forging the proof

You can't make this stuff up. Producing a forgery to prove the original forgery was not. Priceless.

Even if it was proved that the memos could be authentic, that wouldn't prove that they were authentic. The saddest part of all is that this is the best Kerry's supporters can come up with. Bush has been president for almost 4 years and they are still making phony accusations about what he did in the 70's?

You have to sign up to read what's at the link:

Revolting CBS affiliates

Quotes:
"I strongly believe that Mr. Rather should have been suspended pending the conclusions and recommendations of the independent review panel,"
MARY MACMILLAN, (Charlotte) WBTV’s vice president and general manager.

"Channel 3’s Mary MacMillan said she believed the anchor of the “CBS Evening News” should be taken off the air until an investigation is resolved into the documents used in a report about President Bush’s military service."

"She also said CBS should suspend Andrew Heyward, president of the news division, and Mary Mapes, the producer of the “60 Minutes” segment, until the inquiry is finished."

The wheels are starting to fall off at CBS News. Loss of support from the affiliates will crush them.

I think the clamor has died down though. Rather can now prepare to spew more excrement from his mouth.

CBS News ratings are still falling, and that will get results. The independent investigation is a waste of time. CBS hold all the cards and can play a "Saddam - UN standoff" charade indefinitely.
