My LG V60 is still chuggin along perfectly but there is going to be a day in the near future where the battery is going to degrade. Need a flagship camera with external storage. Any options today?

Needs to work on verizon.

I remember having one in my s7 because samsung in their infinite wisdom only offered it with just 32gb not even allowing you to get more if you wanted to pay for it and I prefer more built in storage as micro sd storage isn't seamless but worked for photos and videos. Honestly I don't think so unless it's some uncommon one meant for overseas markets but from what I read the overseas ones may not work with carrier frequencies.

You should get something with a lot more built in storage to where you don't need to worry about using extra storage anymore. I got the 256gb pixel 6 instead of the 128 and thankfully I did it's still going strong battery and performance wise and I think I'll keep it for at least 2 more years and I would be getting close to full with 128. I've noticed the performance goes down a lot when the storage is full and that's what made my s7 chug badly and the sd card didn't alleviate it much.

The S series Samsung Phones stopped having expandable storage after the S20 series. Been a long while since their "flagship" phones have had that option. Some of the lower tier "A" series phones may still off this though...

So the main reason I would like micro SD is in case the phone bricks or does not boot up. I have had a sunsung flip phone go swimming with me and short out, LG Chocolate touch brick for no reason, a samsung a50 deplete its battery then brick itself, and I was able to pull the micro SD card out and put it in the replacement phone.

Without a slot i would have to pay $1k or more to have component level data recovery perfomed. I do not want cloud storage and I do not backup my photos and videos often enough.

Never thought about that. I was told by a best buy rep that micro sd cards can't be trusted like internal storage and that I should plug my phone into my pc and periodically copy and paste everything on the sd card into my computer which I did so maybe do that.

Also I think you can connect usb drives into phones and copy stuff. I remember my s7 having a usb adapter and I tried it once but didn't know how to use it properly with a usb to transfer stuff as you need to mess with the file manager which i didn't really do beyond going to the downloads to look at documents. I think there's software that makes that easy nowadays, maybe someone that knows more can chime in. But what I love about ios is how nicely is just backs every single little thing into your computer without you needing to pay for I cloud and if stays on your computer not someone elses. I don't think any android phone brand has copied that or at least to the level of quality and refinement.

LGV60 and my LG Velvet were two of the best phones I ever owned.
Pretty happy with my Google Pixel 7A now.

Nope, no flagships with microSD slots anymore - at least not from the major brands. Asus and I think Sony does.

But Samsung, in it's infinite wisdom, does provide you with these:

Search on eBay. You may find another LG V60 or G7 or Velvet. Probably difficult to find new. A bunch of open box. You might get lucky.

Sd cards fail all the time. You should set up a proper nas and a back up regimen and actually do weekly backups if photos are important. Or pay for google photo storage or something.

The answer to your question is .. NO.
However?

Why do you need a flagship phone if you currently have a v60?
a mid tier phone with SD is still an upgrade from a 5.25 year old phone.

you could also buy a flagship with 1TB storage and backup.
or
samsung a35 (2024) has microsd

the 2025 a36 doesnt.

NORD N30 also has a microsd slot... its from 2023

Agree,
The OP should consider this option. Copy his photos onto a flash drive.
Im not familiar with Android anymore but sure it works the same as my iPhone if you dont want cloud storage. You plug a flash drive into the phone port and copy your photos. I use iCloud but I do have a flash drive back up made for iPhone that I got as a present. I really dont use it but they are available. I am sure for Android (of course) too.

I need a flagship ad no mid tier has an acceptable camera. My galaxy s7, LG v20, v60, and my s20 all had excellent cameras. Heck even my Droid turbo 2 had a decent camera.

I need to win the lottery.. but the chances are about as good as your 2025 model flagship phone with a microsd 😂

So buy a flagship with decent storage(1TB?) then backup to a usb drive? or computer (they have usb c drives for this purpose)

What was the need for the microsd? Enlighten us? maybe get better suggestions that way?

He doesn't want to lose his photos if the phone takes a swim, and doesn't want to use the cloud.

I'm the wrong person to ask, my wife has 2TB or storage on iCloud for her photos, and I have 1 TB on Google.

Oh and we also have a family Microsoft 365 subscription lol.
